International Yoga Day-2019 Celebrations
The Celebration of Diwali the festival of lights came alive at Green Land Convent School, Civil City, Ludhiana
The Celebration of Diwali the festival of lights came alive at Green Land Convent School, Civil City, Ludhiana on November 6, when the whole school wore a festive look with candles and diyas decorated by the students of I to V and wall hangings adorning the classes and corridors of the school made by the students of VI to VIII. The rangoli on the theme of eco-friendly Diwali by the students of VIII to XII of all the four houses added the perfect setting to the festivity. Students exhibited their flair in the act by making beautiful designs using geometrical shapes, deity impressions and floral motifs.
The Principal of the school Ms. Ritu offered her warm wishes to the students and appreciated the creativity displayed by the students. She sensitized the students about the ill- effects of the crackers and inspired them to celebrate pollution free Diwali in its purest form by lightening lamps and sharing with underprivileged.
Dussehra Celebration in Green Land Convent School, Civil city, Ludhiana
Dussehra, the festival to celebrate the Victory of good over evil, was celebrated on October 18, 2018 in the school campus with lot of religious zeal and fervour. The programme began with prayer and the message on Dussehra. This was followed by a bhajan, ‘Ram Stuti’ and a presentation on life of Lord Rama through scenes created by our tiny tots.
To make this festival more attractive, Green Land Convent School, Civil City organized Dussehra fair for the students where different events of the life of Lord Rama were dramatized by the Greenknights. Not only this different stalls of Indian spicy items and games like, Balls in the basket, Rings, Hit the glass, Haunted House were arranged by the teachers.
The Principal of the school, Ms. Ritu wished the students a Happy Dussehra and made them understand the real meaning of Dussehra. She said the Ravana, being the wised person, also got diminished because of his ego. Lord Rama the follower of truth got victory over evil by killing the wicked Ravana. She said that we should all get a lesson of inspiration to move toward the path of truth and religion. The students enjoyed the lively atmosphere of Dussehra with fun and frolic.
Veggie Parade in Green Land Convent School, Civil City, Ludhiana
Green Land Convent School, Civil City, Ludhiana organized ‘Veggie Parade Competition’ for the students of classes P.Nsy & Nsy. It was amazing to see students dressed up adorably in vibrant colours of different vegetables like carrot, potato, brinjal etc. A parade was held with the objective to make students aware of the importance of vegetables and also help them to recognize the names of different vegetables. Students got an opportunity to come up on stage and speak a few lines. Their expressions and confidence was admirable. The audience was captivated by the enthusiasm and energy of the tiny tots. The teachers also explained the importance of vegetables intake in diet for mental and physical growth.
A panel of distinguished judges judged the participants on various parameters like confidence, expressions, costumes etc.
The school Principal, Ms.Ritu appreciated and praised the efforts put in by the tiny Green Knights.
It was a fun day filled with lots of learning.
TEEJ IN GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL, CIVIL CITY , LUDHIANA.
Teej is the festival that celebrates the bounty of nature, rain and greenary with social activities, rituals and customs.
Students of Green Land Convent School, Civil City, Ludhiana came together to mark the celebration with Punjabi Virsa keeping the tradition alive, students from Kindergarten, Middle wing and Senior wing adorned in beautiful and colourful Punjabi dresses, danced on the folk music for group dance competition.
With the same zeal and fervour Principal and teachers made this day a special with their participation. The programme came to an end with the girls performing Giddha, henna coloured hands wearing colourful traditional dress and playing under trees on swings in the school premises.
Speaking on the occasion, The Principal Ms. Ritu appreciated the spirit among the students and bestowed a healthy message about the tradition to be enlivened by participating enthusiastically and binding ourselves with the roots.
It was really an enlightening programme.
Welcome Fiesta In Green Land Convent School, Civil City, Ludhiana
The mood of Green Land Convent School, Civil City, Ludhiana was upbeat as the school hosted ‘Welcome Fiesta’ for the students of Kindergarten. The Fresher’s were given a rousing reception. The function started with Welcome Dance. The kids thoroughly enjoyed by tapping their feet on the music. The students impressed everyone with their scintillating dance performance. It was followed by Ramp walk wherein boys and girls set the ramp on fire with their panache and style. The zeal and enthusiasm of the new entrants was worth seeing as they got an opportunity to showcase their talent. Master Naman and Miss Aadhya were crowned Master & Miss Fresher. It was delight to watch tiny tots in bright and colourful dresses, dancing among disco lights. Students relished a variety of delicacies and enjoyed the day to the full.
Dr. Vijayata Rudhra, the Director of the school joined the party. She greeted and blessed the blooming buds on the occasion.
The day ended with the children going back with a smile on their faces.
Sand Play and Bead Stringing
Green Land Convent School, Civil City, Ludhiana conducted a ‘Sand Play and Bead Stringing’ activities for the kindergarten. A sand bed was spread for them. As children have always been intrigued by the sand play, they played in sand by digging, sifting, building, pouring and exploring throughout the time. Toys of various sizes and textures placed throughout the sand created an added layer of sensory fun.
The students also enjoyed by stringing the beads. Beads of different size and colour, ranging from large to small were held in a container with an accompanying string. All the students strived hard to put the beads in strings. The objective is to offer an atmosphere of learning and sensory development happening through these activities.
Dr. Vijayata Rudhra, the Director of the school encouraged the tiny tots and said that these activities provide eye-hand coordination, enhance fine motor skills, gives concrete form and expression to children’s inner world and provide them with a symbolic language for self-expression.
Overall, it was a learning experience for the tiny tots.
Colours Day Celebration In Green Land Convent School Civil City, Ludhiana
Green Land Convent School, Civil City, Ludhiana celebrated ‘Colours Day’ with an objective to introduce & reinforce colour concepts for the students of Pre-Primary. The day is a great fun for all involved. Each class was allocated with a colour-red, green and yellow etc.
The classrooms too were decorated with the allotted colours to welcome the students. The students came to school dressed colourfully and brought many objects, toys, fruit, vegetables & plastic household items in their colour basket. The teachers too were dressed up in the same colour.
Focusing on the theme, many activities such as finger printing, colouring, cotton dabbing etc. were planned. The students thoroughly enjoyed the activities through their practical learning experience.
They carried beautiful smilies to home.
The School Principal, Ms.Ritu appreciated the students for their response. She said that these activities give the children an opportunity to explore and experiment with colours using a variety of material.
It was a fun and frolic day for the tiny tots.
Janamashtami Celebration
Green Land Convent School, Civil City Celebrated Shri Krishna Janamashtami the most powerful human in carnations of the Lord Vishnu with religious fervor.
The Celebration commenced with the incarnation ceremony of lord Krishna by the Chief Guest amidst the chanting of mantras. The Customary ‘Krishna Jhula’ decorated beautifully added to the exuberant ambience. The event was indeed the consummation of bhajan, dance and Aarti.
The school also organized the crown making competition for kindergarten section. There the tiny tots also participated in the celebration of Janamashtami by showing their talent of crown making.
In his message to the greenknights, the Chairman Rajesh Rudhra encouraged the students to embody the strength and qualities of Lord Krishna and follow the route of Karma, Dharma, love and devotion.
The Principal Ms. Ritu wished everyone on this auspicious occasion and motivated the greenknights to incarnate the character of Krishna.
The function ended with the echoes of Hare Rama Hare Krishna which reverberated through the entire campus.
Means Of Transport
To make the tiny toddlers aware about the different Means Of Transport, the school organized a completion for them. The little angels of Green Land Convent School, Civil City came to school in the dressed designed in the form of different transports.
The tender buds were really very excited to be land transport, air transport, and water transport. Really their was a fabulous attempt by teachers to encourage practical knowledge and learning which entertain the delicate buds who are just beginners.
The school Principal, Ms. Ritu appreciated the kids and made motivated the teachers to enhance the knowledge of the tiny tots by involving them in the subject and to make teaching more interesting.
The tiny tots were very happy.

Green Land Convent School, Civil City, Ludhiana organized an Inter House Slogan Writing Competition for classes VI to VIII and PPT making competition for classes IX to XII especially on the life of Gandhi ji. The aim of the competition was to explore and encourage creativity in the students and acknowledge them with the movements of the freedom fighters. The competition inspired them to think and write creatively in order to promote the feeling of patriotism. The students wrote slogans and made PPT describing Gandhi’s movement for the independence of the country.
Kirti House was adjudged as the winner of Slogan Writing Competition and Jagriti House was the winner of PowerPoint Presentation.
All students enjoyed the competition and displayed their best. The school Principal, Ms. Ritu made the Final Judgement and appreciated the effort of the students.
Dev Sharma of Green Land Convent School Civil City won Gold in Cricket at District Level
It is a big achievement for Green Land Convent School, Civil City, Ludhiana that Dev Sharma (U-14) has been selected at District level. He won Gold at District level under P.A.U Zone by defeating Ludhiana 2 in final, Raikot in semifinal and earned glory for the school.
The Chairman cum Director of the School, Dr. Rajesh Rudhra congratulated Dev Sharma for bringing laurels to the school and encouraged him to move ahead with the same zeal and passion. The Principal Ms. Ritu also encouraged the students to indulge in games so that they can grow up to better, healthy and wise individuals.
Little Leader Show
Green Land Convent School, Civil City, Ludhiana organized Little Leader Show for kindergarten. The tiny tots participated in the show enthusiastically. The little buds represented the great leaders of India by dressing up in the guise of Indira Gandhi, PM Narender Modi, Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, Sushma Swaraj, Atal Bihari Vajpayee etc. The tiny tots looked marvellous playing the role of their chosen leaders. The aim of the show was not only to blend learning with fun but also to develop confidence and to instil leadership quality in the students by giving them an opportunity to get on the stage and speak before everyone. The show proved to be a great learning experience for the students and gave them a platform to explore their hidden talents.
The Principal Ms. Ritu appreciated the effort of the blooming buds and motivated them to develop a sound character in life. She also said that a sound character only earns respect in the society. So the students should imbibe the qualities of a good character in their life.
Tax Awareness
The Income Tax Department, Ludhiana organized a Mass Tax Awareness Drive at Green Land Convent School, Civil City. Sh. Arvinder Singh, I.R.S, Additional Commissioner of Income Tax, Range-3, Ludhiana was the honourable Chief Guest. He was accompanied by Sh. Hari Narayan, Inspector, Income Tax and Ms. PriyaGabba, DEO. The President of the Chain of Green Land Schools, Sh. ShabadRudhra welcomed the Chief Guest with a bouquet of flowers.
The purpose of the visit was to spread tax awareness and to inculcate the culture of Taxation amongst the future tax payers. The programmestarted with the plantation of tree called the ‘Apnakar Tree’with dignitaries, President Chain of Green Land Schools, Mr. ShabadRudhra, Principal Ms. RavinderKaur, Staff and Students. The Chief Guest addressed the students and said that for the overall development of the country, good infrastructure, defence, education, health, etc. we all should pay our taxes timely with sincerity. There are various bright and prestigious job opportunities in the Income Tax Department. Students are the future of the nation, hence they should take a pledge to pay their taxes honestly and motivate others to do so.
Mr. ShabadRudhra said that it is the prime duty of every citizen of our country to pay their taxes in a rightful manner. A Tax Pledge was also taken wherein the dignitaries, staff & students enthusiastically participated. The Chief Guest was presented with a memento by the President and Principal. The function ended with the National Anthem.
SOLO DANCE COMPETITION
Green Land Convent School, Civil City, Ludhiana organized ‘Solo Dance Competition’ for the students of classes P. Nsy to I. The students were thrilled to be a part of vibrant and energetic event. Students expressed their love for their teachers by dancing on the rhythmic beats of popular songs dedicated to teachers. Participants came in colourful attires, swayed and tapped on the melodious tunes. Students even made use of interesting props like hats, chairs and sticks. Energetic moves, lights, enthusiasm and energy of the young Greenknights enthralled the audience. The happiness of the children was amply evident with applause and appreciation.
The Principal of the school, Mrs. Ravinder Kaur appreciated the stunning performance of the students and the efforts of the parents who assisted with the preparation of their child. She said that solo dance provided a stage to the students to shun away their inhibition.
The day ended with the children going back with a smile on their faces.
‘Inter House Hindi Declamation Competition’ under the ageis of Ved Prachar Mandal
Green Land Convent School, Civil City, Ludhiana organized ‘Inter House Hindi Declamation Competition’ under the ageis of Ved Prachar Mandal for the students of Classes VI - X in the school campus.
Inter House Hindi Declamation Competition was conducted with the aim to build confidence and honeoratory skills among students. The stage was abuzz with numerous participants from all the four houses of the school. Each participant was given two minutes. The students declaimed on various topics like ‘Jan Jagriti Ke Nayak’, ‘Hum Sabhi Ka Ho Ek Sapna’, etc. All the participants strived hard to put in their best foot forward and win the competition. Pronounciation, fluency, content, intonation were the main criteria for the judgement. The closely contested competition presented a challenging task for the judges to adjudge the winners.
The school Principal appreciated the efforts of the pupils and expressed that such competitions help students to improve their oratory skills.

GreenLand Convent School,Civil City,Ludhiana organized the Inter House Poster Making and Slogan Writing Competition for Classes VII to X. The aim of the competition was to explore and encourage creativity in the students and offer them a platform to showcase their skills. Greenknights participated earnestly in the competition. The competition inspired them to think and work creatively in order to promote artistic excellence.The students made posters on different alarming issues like Corruption, Save Earth, Global warming,Drugs etc. with appropriate and thought provoking slogans which acted as a wake up call and reinforced the need to take some actions against social issues and to save Earth.
The rubrics for judgement were neatness, clarity of expression andtimely completion.All the students enjoyed the competition and displayed their best. .

PARENTS ORIENTATION PROGRAMME
Green Land Convent School, Civil City, Ludhiana organized an Orientation Programme for the parents of Kindergarten & I standard students.
The aim was to familiarize the parents “as partners in progress” with the curriculum, teaching methodologies and ways to enhance motor skills. The programme commenced with a warm welcome of the parents. Then, it was followed by a session wherein the teachers gave an overview of the various subjects like English, basic Maths and the motor skills which gave them an assurance that the curriculum involves self-directed, hands on learning activities which not only give vent to their creative talents and energies but also help in their all-round development of the child.
Thereafter the teachers guided the parents about various principles involved in the teaching of life skills.
The Orientation programme proved to be a sincere effort made by the school in educating the parents to look after and guide their children in a proper manner. It also helped in evolving a common teaching strategy and helped the parents in identifying suitable follow up methods to reinforce the learning process of their children.
Mrs. Vijayata Rudhra, the Director of the school, addressed the gathering. In her speech, she laid stress on effective communication between the teachers and the parents and between parents and their offsprings and also sought their support and suggestions so that the children could be provided the best for their overall development. She also gave guidelines about effective parenting.
The School Principal, suggested the parents about different measures to nurture a child with love and care to build a strong foundation for a glorious future.
Overall, it was a fruitful meeting and the parents were in high spirits after attending the Orientation programme.
TEEJ CELEBRATION
Green Land Convent School, Civil City, Ludhiana celebrated ‘Teej’ with full Zeal and vivacity. The students and teachers came attired in colourful Punjabi dresses attracted everyone’s attention. To mark the celebrations, Folk Group Dance Competition was organised for classes Pre-Primary to III. The students of Pre-Primary to III impressed everyone with their scintillating dance performances.
All the participants were cheered up by the students as they gave heart throbbing performances. Students created an aura of happiness, enthusiasm and ecstasy. Students enjoyed eating sweets like kheer/malpura. Traditional articles like bagh, phulkari, charkha, pakhi, chhajj etc were displayed. Girls swang on decorated swings called peengs. .
The school Principal, Mrs. Ravinder Kaur also joined the celebrations and blessed all the children.Sheadded that these traditional celebrations are the essence of our life and a glimpse of our rich cultural heritage. These festivals seem to be taking a back seat in modern scenario but we,at Green Land try to imbibe the cultural values of our state by solemnizing such festivals.
‘Independence Day and Krishna Janamashtami’ Celebrations
Green Land Convent School, Civil City, Ludhiana marked the 71st ‘Independence Day and Krishna Janamashtami’ celebrations with patriotic and religious fervour. The school dazzled with the vibrant hues of tricolour and was immersed in rich patriotic spirit which was clearly evident on the face of every Greenknight. Mr. Shabad Rudhra, President of the School Trust along with the Director of the school, Mrs. Vijayata Rudhra graced the occasion. The Principal, Ms. Ravinder Kaur gave him a warm and hearty floral welcome.
The function commenced with the unfurling of the Tricolor by honourable President, Mr. Shabad Rudhra followed by singing of National Anthem in unison. The school choir sang the patriotic songs that awakened everyone’s feelings towards the Mother Land. It was followed by thought provoking speeches wherein the students highlighted the need to remember the sacrifices of our freedom fighters, who gave India its freedom. The students celebrated the spirit of freedom through a choreography “Colours of India” which presented breathtaking dance performances immersed in rich folklore and contemporary dance styles. It was followed by Janamashtami celebrations wherein the function commenced with the incarnation ceremony of Lord Krishna, by the chief guest, amidst the chanting of mantras. The customary ‘Krishna Jhula’ decorated beautifully added to the exuberant ambience. The event was indeed the consummation of talent, bhajan, dances and patriotism.
In his message to the Greenknights, Mr. Shabad Rudhra encouraged the students for path breaking achievements and urged the children to build the edifice of the modern India on the foundation of hard work and commitment. He insisted that every student must strive to embody the strengths and qualities of Lord Krishna and follow the route of Karma, Dharma, love and devotion. .
The Principal, Ms. Ravinder Kaur wished everyone on this auspicious occasion and motivated the Greenknights to vow to steer the country from the terrible storm of various evils like corruption, terrorism and resolved to build a brighter, greener and a progressive India.
The function ended with the echoes of Jai Hind, Vande Mataram and Hare Rama, Hare Krishna which reverberated through the entire campus.
Summer Camp at Green Land Convent School, Civil City
Summer Camp at Green Land Convent School, Civil City was truly a summer fiesta which offered joyous learning in varied forms. The fun lasted for a span of fourteen days from 29th May, 2017 to 10th June, 2017. Around 120 students from classes II to VIII participated in it. No one among the participants was bothered by heat simply on account of the joyful experience that the summer camp offered. Various activities such as Personality Development, Dance, Non-flaming cooking, theatre, Karate, Story Club, Art &Craft, Cricket etc. were stringed together to make summer camp a fruitful and enriching experience for students. The students showcased their learning aptitude at great zenith with the help of teachers and coaches.
A presentation was organized on 10th June, 2017 to showcase what the Green Knights had learnt in short span of ten days. Mrs. Vijayata Rudhra, the Director of the school was ecstatic to witness the perfection achieved by the students. She appreciated them lavishly and praised the hard work put in by the teachers and the students. She reiterated that Green Land School is fast heading to prove that to make learning joyous is certainly possible and the latent talent of the students helps to develop their holistic growth.
MOTHER`S DAY
Green Land Convent School, Civil City celebrated Mother’s Day with gaiety and joy. The venue for the occasion was festooned tastefully. To mark the celebrations, the plethora of activities were organized for the students. Tiny-tots of pre-primary made lovely cards and took them home as a surprise to express their love and gratitude towards their mothers.
The students of Kindergarten and Class I participated in Talent show wherein Green Knights showcased their talent through dance, song, poem and speech etc. There was a complete ambience of joy. Students were actively engaged in exhibiting their talent, their laughters and smiles indicating the sense of involvement.
The celebrations also included an Inter-House Solo Song Singing competition. The students sang about their joy of having a mother and thanked them for inspiring, motivating, boosting up their moral and showering unconditional love upon them through their heart touching and melodious songs.
While addressing the students, the school Principal, urged them to reciprocate the affection and unconditional love given to them by their mothers and acknowledge their contribution made by them in their lives.
Overall, it was a joyful experience for the students.
LABOUR DAY - COMMUNITY HELPERS
Green Land Convent School, Civil City ,Ludhiana celebrated Labour Day with full aplomb. To mark the celebrations, a Fancy Dress Competition was organized for the students of Kindergarten. The theme for the competition was ‘Community Helpers’. The competition was conducted to create awareness among the students about the role of helpers in our day-to-day life. The students came dressed up as Helpers belonging to different professions. The bubbly actors stepped into the shoes of the characters they represented and shed their inhibitions as they stepped into a new role. All the students enacted their roles with realistic props along with appropriate words and sentences. The tiny tots put their best foot forward and it became really difficult for judges to decide the winners among the talented young actors as they presented themselves wonderfully. The fancy dress competition saw the multifarious talents of the students coming to the fore. Doctor, Air Hostess, Farmer, Gardener, Milkman and other Community Helpers who help us in our daily lives were some of the characters that adorned the corridors of the pre-primary. The enthusiasm on student’s faces was worth seeing as each one of them proudly took the centre stage and spoke about the importance of the character they represented.
The school Principal appreciated the confidence and enthusiasm of the tiny brigade. She said that this will help to instill in them respect for all professions and learn to value them better. She further added that these kinds of competitions educate the students about the dignity of labour.
Overall it was a great learning experience for the little Greenknights.

BAISAKHI 2017
Green Land Convent School, Civil City, Ludhiana celebrated Baisakhi, the festival marking onset of wheat harvesting with zest and enthusiasm. The school was decked with handmade charts, ribbons, flowers and Phulkaris. To mark the celebrations, a special assembly was conducted. The programme began on a religious note as the students recited a soulful Shabad Kirtan. The students threw light on the importance of Baisakhi through the emphatic speech. The tiny- tots came attired in traditional Punjabi colourful outfits with ornaments and accessories. A cultural programme was also presented by the students. The students were overjoyed and tapped their feet on Punjabi folk songs.
Another important part of the assembly was the speech highlighting the life history of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, who drafted the constitution of India.
The Principal of the school greeted all the students and emphasized the significance of the festival.
The function came to an end on a merry note.

HAWAN CEREMONY, GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL, CIVIL CITY
To mark the beginning of New Session 2017-2018, Green Land Convent School, Civil City, Ludhiana organized Hawan to invoke the blessings of the Almighty for the year ahead. The Chairman cum Director of Chain of Green Land Schools Sh. Rajesh Rudhra, Mrs. Usha Rudhra (Gen. Secretary), Mr. Shabad Rudhra (President), Mrs. Vijayata Rudhra (Director) Ms. Jyoti Pujara (Manager) and the school Principal performed the Hawan. The entire staff and the students of the school participated in this sacred act amidst the chanting of Gayatri Mantra. Every one offered Ahuti and prayed for the happy and prosperous year ahead.
Speaking on the occasion, Sh. Rajesh Rudhra enlightened the students about the importance of Hawan. He told that the fire and smoke originating from Hawan purifies not only the atmosphere but also cleanses our mind and soul. He gave a meaningful message to the students that without religion, education is incomplete and highlighted the significance of chanting and reciting ‘Om’ and ‘Swaha’. Also, he explained the role of ‘Guru’ in our life.
The President of the school Mr. Shabad Rudhra congratulated the students on stepping into a new phase in their academic life and wished them a fulfilling and promising stay in the school.
Pandit Sh. Ajay Vashisht who performed all the rituals and Hawan told the meaning of every mantra to the students. He gave his blessings to the students and prayed to God for providing them intelligence and concentration to accomplish their goals in life.
The Hawan culminated with Aarti and hymns in the praise of Almighty.
FANCY DRESS COMPETITION, GREEN LAND CONVENT SCHOOL, CIVIL CITY
Green Land Convent School, Civil City, Ludhiana organized a‘Fancy Dress Competition’ on the theme ‘Jungle Safari’ displaying the tremendous talent of the tiny tots of kindergarten. It gave them the chance of adventure and fun. The competition took the tiny tots for a ride of their fantasy where they explored, visualized and enjoyed their utopian world.
Students came dressed up in attires that matched the concept for the extravaganza ‘Jungle Safari’. Tiny tots walked on the ramp in their unique jungle theme dresses. It was a pretty picture as the children took to the ramp to show their dresses to the audience.
Addressing the students, the School Principal, Ms. Alka Mahajan appreciated the efforts of tiny tots said that there is a lot of difference between learning from books and practical learning. The competition will help the students learn about the wildlife.
Monsoon Bash
On the arrival of monsoon, the tiny tots of Green Land Convent School, Civil City, Ludhiana enjoyed the rain when a ‘Monsoon Bash’was organised for Kindergarten Section.
The kiddies welcomed raindrops by dancing, hopping, jumping and waving their multi-hued umbrellas in the rain. They twisted their feet on famous songs ‘Aaj Blue hai pani pani, Barso Re Megha Megha’ and recited the rhymes for the same.
The tiny tots enjoyed the fragrance of the wet soil, sprouting green plants and gush of fresh air. Wearing the colourful raincoats and holding colourful umbrellas the tiny tots had a sigh of relief. The kids were accompanied by their teachers.
The Principal of the School, Ms. Alka Mahajan also joined them and became the part of their enjoyment and expressed her perspective that these kinds of occasions bring freshness on everybody’s face.
Aavishkar Quiz Series
Green Land Convent School, Civil City, Ludhiana conducted the first stage of ‘Aavishkar Quiz Series’ supported by CBSE with the aim to promote creativity and innovative spirit among different age groups of students. The quiz witnessed enthusiastic preparation and participation of 45 students. All five teams participated for Primary (I-V), Middle (VI-VIII) and Secondary (IX-XII) group. The format of the quiz entailed three rounds for each group. The quiz was successfully coordinated by Mr. Manoj Kumar and Ms. Manu
Two students from each group were selected for CBSE online test at second level. Candidates were selected and short listed on the basis of their performance in the quiz. The winners of the competition in each category were winners table

KARGIL VIJAY DIWAS
Green Land Convent School, Civil City, Ludhiana celebrated‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’ with due solemnity and dignity at the School Campus. The celebration was observed with a aim to ensure that the students continue to remember this saga of grit and determination. Students and teachers paid homage to brave soldiers who laid down their lives for the nation in Kargil war. The videos highlighting the sacrifiesmade by our valiant soldiers in difficult situation of Kargilwar to keep the nation safe were shown to the students. Students were filled with patriotic fervor.
Speaking on the occasion, the School Principal Ms. AlkaMahajanstated that India will never forget the fearlessness with which our courgeous soldiers gave a befitting and unforgettable reply to intruders. She urged the Greenknights to practise values of honesty, integrity and sincerity in day to day life and inculcate a positive attitude towards the development of our country.
Mango Party
Green Land Convent School, Civil City, Ludhiana organized. ‘A Mango Party’ for the little ones of kindergarten. The whole school campus was decorated in yellow and green in tune with the theme of the party. The kids came dressed as mangoes. The aim of organizing the activity was to impart all information related to mangoes in a fun way.
The ‘Mango Party’ mania was kicked off by introducing different types of mangoes. The tiny tots were introduced to an array of mangoes such as dussehri, safeda, chausa andlangda. The students touched, smelled and held the mangoes. The students were indulged in various creative activities to do with mangoes such as thumb printing, paper tearing and pasting and drawing. During the lunch time, students shared and relished various mango delights they had brought as special tiffins.
Ms. Alka Mahajan, the school Principal told the kids about the mango being the king of fruits not just for its taste and super flashy yellow colour but also for the array of health benefits it offers.
The children thoroughly enjoyed the party and will remember it for a long time. Overall it was a mangolicious day for the children.
GOOD MANNERS WEEK
Green Land Convent School, Civil City Ludhianais celebrating‘Good Manners Week’ in the school premises in which the students of kindergarten and primary section are given regular lessons and demonstrations to make them worthy and good citizens in every walk of life. The activities aim at equipping the students with proper etiquettes and manners.
Table manners, classroom manners, magic courtesy words and many other related issuesare discussed, enacted on the stage and shown through videos and power point presentations.
All the students are very excited.They are taking pleasure in all the activities. On the concluding day, a quiz will be conducted which will actually be crafted to recapitulate the entire week’s activities. The students will be asked questions based on good manners.
Ms. Alka Mahajan, the school Principal, appreciated the efforts of the students as well as the teachers. She exhorted the students to cultivate the good habits at this stage as good manners set a standard of behavior against which other behavior can be measured, which helps keep order and civility in society.
The International Yoga Day
Green Land Convent School, Civil City, Ludhiana celebrated the International Yoga Day in the school campus. All the students participated enthusiastically. The students were educated on the importance of Yoga and they were explained that Yoga helps in maintaining not only physical & mental health but also a healthy social life.
They performed many Aasanas, Pranayama and Meditation. The objective of celebrating the day was to spread awareness about Yoga and its inevitable role in achieving a healthy body, mind and spirit.
The School Principal Ms. Alka Mahajan shared the fitness mantra with the students that the quality of life is the most important thing one can desire. Good health combined with happiness helps to achieve a high quality of life. As a result, lot of energy from community members & active participation from all age.

The students of Green Land Convent School, Civil City, Ludhiana proved their mettle once again by performing brilliantly in class X CBSE examination this year. Greenknights made their alma mater proud by delivering cent percent result. Out of 67 students, 32 students scored CGPA 10. The students broke into celebrations as soon as the result was declared. They were happy and excited to get the rewards of their hard work. The school premises was filled with vigour, enthusiasm and joy at this moment.

Greenknights of Green Land Convent School, Civil City made their alma mater proud by not only delivering cent percent result but also by fetching top positions in class XII CBSE examinations.
School topper HimanshuChawla bagged the first position in the school by scoring 94.4% in Commerce. He got 95 marks in Business Studies, Accountancy and Physical Education. Karan Kapoor stood second by scoring 97 marks in English 95 in Business Studies and 95 in Accountancy. Moments charged with happiness when 90% students got first division.

Splash Pool Party
Green Land Convent School,Civil City organized a‘Splash Pool Party’ for the students of Kindergarten.The little ones put their swim suits on and enjoyed the splash activity to beat the heat of the scorching sun.Big splash pools were kept in the lawns of the school.The students jumped and romped in water. The tiny tots played with the toys and enjoyed the fountains.They splashed water at each other.The kids loved the colourful ambience around.The celebratory music beats at the party made the surroundings more delightful. The play station echoed with their joyful cries.Students enjoyed rain dance with their teachers.They relished different juices and summer fruits like watermelon, mango,melon etc. The teachers explained the importance of fruits intake in diet for mental and physical growth.
Ms. Alka Mahajan,the school Principal opined that such leisurely activities are must for the Kindergarten students and these not only teach them to mix up with their peer groups but also help them to express themselves in a natural way.
The whole event was enjoyed by our tiny tots and teachers thoroughly as it was a relieving activity in the monotonous routine and kick off start for everyone to enjoy summer vacation with new zeal.
Fun with Shapes
Green Land Convent School, Civil City organized ‘Fun with Shapes’ activity for the Kindergarten students in the school campus. The tiny tots wereapprised about the importance of shapes in their lives. The students brought cutouts and props of different shapes. The tiny tots played and enjoyed numerous games. A quiz was also held for them to enhance their understanding of shapes. It was a joyful experience for the tiny Greenknights.
The school Principal, Ms. Alka Mahajan appreciated the enthusiasm of the students. She reiterated that Green Land Convent School is fast heading to prove that to make learning joyous is certainly possible. Truly it was a day filled with fun and frolic for the kids.
Sand Play Activity
Green Land Convent School, Civil City conducted a ‘Sand Play Activity’ for the kindergarten. A sand bed was spread for them. As children have always been intrigued by the sand play, they played in sand by digging, sifting, building, pouring and exploring throughout the time. Toys of various sizes and textures placed throughout the sand created an added layer of sensory fun. The objective is to offer an atmosphere of learning and sensory development happening through this activity.
Ms. Alka Mahajan, Principal of the school encouraged the tiny tots and said that these activities provide eye-hand coordination,enhance fine motor skills, gives concrete form and expression to children’s inner worlds and provides them with a symbolic language for self-expression.
Investiture Ceremony
The Investiture Ceremony of Green Land Convent School, Civil City for the academic session 2016-17 was held in a special ceremony at the school hall. Itwas conducted with high degree of sincerity and enthusiasm. The momentous ceremony commenced with the school prayer. The Principal Ms. Alka Mahajan conferred the badges and sash to the elected students. The proud members of the newly selected Council marched into the arena with poise and confidence amidst thundering round of applause. The new student council members took their oath with the promise that they would carry out their duties with integrity, faith and excellence. The elected student council members were brimming with confidence to shoulder the newly assigned duties. Ms. Alka Mahajan, the Principal, congratulated and enthused the ‘young leaders’ to uphold the values of school and to keep the school flag flying high while discharging their duties honestly and impartially.
The ceremony was concluded with the National anthem. The function ended with the zeal and determination quite evident in the eyes of the School Council members to make Green Land Convent School brighter and greater than ever before.
Recipe of Fitness
Green Land Convent School, Civil City, organised a special activity ‘Recipe of Fitness’ for Primary wing. The objective was to create awareness and educate children about the importance and consumption of fruits in regular diet. The Greenknights from class I to V were motivated to bring fruits along with their tiffins. The teachers also explained the importance of fruits intake in diet for mental and physical growth. The students participated in it with great zeal and enthusiasm. All the students enjoyed the Fruit Break and relished the seasonal fruits like mango, watermelon, papaya, grapes, strawberry, etc.
The Principal, Ms. Alka Mahajan motivated the students for the same and said that school organizes such activities to create an environment to support the establishment of healthy eating habits for students . She appreciated the best entries Ayaana, Idhika of I-Keats, Vanshverma of III-Keats, Madhavi of II-Bacon and Himanshi of IV-Chaucer. She applauded the efforts, care and concern of the parents for their children who invested their precious time in cooperating with the school to inculcate the healthy eating habits in their kids.
All the children were found to be quite thrilled and were positive on the fact that fruits are better than junk food.
FRESHER’S PARTY
The mood of Green Land Convent School, Civil City was upbeat as the students of class KG hosted a Welcome Party on the theme of Dress up as Mom & Dad for the students of Nursery. The Fresher’s were given a rousing reception. Thefunction started with Welcome Dance. The students impressed everyone with their scintillating dance performance. It was followed by Ramp walk wherein boys and girls set the ramp on fire with their panache and style. The new students felt like an integral part of the institution.
The Principal, Ms. Alka Mahajan welcomed the new students in the Greenknight fraternity and congratulated the children of KG for giving a bright and colourful party to their juniors. She also appreciated the teachers for training the kids. The day ended with the children going back with a smile on their faces.

Green Land Convent School, Civil City celebrated the birth anniversary of the ‘Bard of Avon’ – William Shakespeare on 26th April, 2016 in the school campus. Fancy Dress Competition was organized for the primary students. Rosalind, Antonio, Cleopatra, Julius Caesar, Romeo, Portia and many more characters from Shakespeare’s novel descended on the stage and mesmerized the audience by not only with their beautiful costumes but impeccable oratory skills. It created a lot of excitement among the children.
To acknowledge the contributions made by the literary giant in the field of literature and to make the students aware of his life and work, Power Point Presentation was also shown to the students.

EARTH DAY CELEBRATION
Green Land Convent School, Civil City celebrated ‘Earth Day’ on 22nd April, 2016 in the school campus. To inspire awareness and appreciation amongst the Greenknights for the Earth’s natural environment,inter class colouring competition was organized in the school. Students skillfully painted comprehensive pictures of the environmental issues confronting mankind. Through their paintings, they protested against the deterioration of the environment and made a plea to save Mother Earth for a better future.
Principal, Ms. Alka Mahajan, made a universal appeal to save earth. She urged the students to save electricity and water. She appealed to the students to join hands in maintaining Earth’s beauty.
BAISAKHI CELEBRATION
Green Land Convent School, Civil City,celebrated Baisakhi, the festival marking onset of wheat harvesting with great fervor and enthusiasm. School premises wore a festive look with compound fully decorated with handmade charts, ribbons and flowers. Students were dressed up in colourful Punjabi attire.
The day began with a special assembly wherein the students were told about the significance of the harvest festival for the farming community along with the religious as well as the historical importance of the festivals. The songs on Baisakhi sung by the Greenknights mesmerized the audience. A cultural presentation of ‘Gidda’ and ‘Bhangra’ by the students added colour to the celebrations. The pre-primary students were overjoyed to tap their feet to the beats of the ‘Dhol’.
Another important part of the assembly was the speech highlighting the importance of Ram Navmi. Thereafter, the Greenknights enhanced the knowledge of the audience further by highlighting the life history of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, who drafted the Constitution of India.
Principal, Ms. Alka Mahajan wished all the students a very happy Baisakhi and emphasized the significance of the festival. She also highlighted that this day is special for the chain of GreenLandschool as the foundation of the first school was laid on this very day only. To make the occasion, the heavenly blessings of Divine Guru ParamSantKirpalJee were sought through a shabad.
The assembly came to an end with a thrilling dance performance.
COMMENCED THE NEW ACADEMIC SESSION 2016-17
Green Land Convent School, Civil City, Ludhiana commenced the new academic session 2016-17 with full zeal and high spirits. Students ushered into their new classes with excitement and gleeful faces to begin their ride for new academic year in the new class rooms. The school campus once again bloomed to receive new life with the echoes of the students. Teachers gave a warm welcome to the students. The tiny tots of kindergarten were greeted with the hand-made welcome cards. The day started with calligraphy which the students relish to join in. The students were given a peep on rules and regulations and taught moral values. The students seemed to be determined to work hard throughout the year to add glory to themselves and their school.
Principal, Ms. Alka Mahajan congratulated all the students for their excellent performances in previous session and motivated them to work diligently throughout the year as the beginning of a new session is a time for new hopes and renewed dreams. On the whole a pleasant cheerful environment thronged in the campus vibrantly.
Basant Panchami
Green Land Convent School, Civil City celebrated Basant Panchami, the festival which marks the end of the winter season and the onset of spring season. The school was abuzz with the festive spirit. The celebrations commenced with the SaraswatiVandana, invoking the blessings of Goddess Saraswati for seeking knowledge and wisdom.
The young buds of kindergarten celebrated this day as ‘Yellow day’. The tiny tots were dressedin yellowcolourattires and offered floral prayers to Goddess Saraswati. Students had brought home cooked traditional yellow coloured dishes in their tiffin.
The students of Primary wing enjoyed the kite flying activity. The sky was resplendent with kites of all coloursand sizes.
Congratulating everybody on the occasion, Principal of the School,Ms. Alka Mahajan said that the festival signifies the happiness and comes to brighten up our lives and bless us with the joys that last throughout the year.
Republic Day
The 67th Republic Day was celebrated at Green Land Convent School, Civil City, with a great deal of patriotic zeal and fervor. Sh. Rajesh Rudhra, Chairman cum Director of Green Land Schools and Ms. JyotiSachdevPujara, the Manager of the host school were given a warm welcome by the school Principal, Ms. Alka Mahajan. The day began with the unfurlingof the Tri-colour bySh.RajeshRudhrafollowed by the National Anthem. To mark the importance of this day, a grand celebration was held in the school and many activities were planned in the school premises. The events that followed included the songs such as Hum BharatwasiDuniyaKoPawanDhamBanayenge, Mile Sur MeraTumhara, as well as multitude of energetic dances. A special choreography AkhirKabTak, VandeMataram were also staged. The students took pride in glorifying and celebrating the spirit of unity.
The patriotism and the fervor was at its peak and was quite evident in the spirit of every proud Greenknight. It was an emotional display of ardour and love for the motherland by the young Greenknightsas they paid homage to the freedom fighters whom we remember with boundless gratitude on this auspicious day.

Celebration - Lohri & Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekanand
Amidst the freezing cold weather, the students of Green Land School,Civil City, experienced some respite as they were involved in a palpable wave celebrating Lohri, the festival of holy bonfire. The campus boomed with ecstasy as the students celebrated Lohri with a lot of exuberance and fanfare.
A special assembly was organised to mark this festival and to celebrate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekanand.The assembly commenced with the thoughtful speech delivered by the Principal of the school, paying homage and tribute to Swami Vivekanand.
The students and teachers sang songs immersed in rich culture folklore of Punjab.The students dressed up in traditional Punjabi attire performed bhangra and gidda on the beats of dhol around the bonfire as it gave them an opportunities to break free from their busy schedule and share each others company. Offerings of chirwa, meva, til, gur, rewri, gachak etc. were made to Agni, the God of fire by one and all.
Speaking on the occasion, the School Principal, Ms. Alka Mahajan greeted thestudents and encouraged them to value their cultural heritage.
The students relished groundnuts, puffed rice, rewris and other winter savories and had a gala time full of fun and merriment.
Christmas Celebrations
Adhering to the real spirit of Christmas, the students of Green Land Convent School, Civil City celebrated the festival of Christmas with great delight and vehemence in the school premises. The merry making of Christmas commenced with the tiny tots dressed as Christmas fairies, angles and elves. The presence of Santa Claus made it all the more special for the students. In keeping with the Christmas spirit, the whole school wore a festive look and was beautifully decorated. The young buds enthralled everybody with their dances. The carols added on to the mirth and joy of Christmas. Through this function, the Greenknights proved that they respect all religions and living in a modern era, they revere all cultures and their pedigree.
Ms. Alka Mahajan, the school Principal addressed the gathering and shared her beliefs about Christmas and its importance with the students. She laid importance on the emotion of love, care, tolerance and gratitude allied to the festival of Christmas. She admired the students and wished the staff and students a Merry Christmas and a prolific New Year.
Ganit Week
‘Ganit Week’ was organised at Green Land Convent School, Civil City as per the guidelines of the CBSE to commemorate the birth anniversary of the eminent mathematician Sh. Srinivasan Ramanujan who has made a significant contribution in the development of modern mathematics.
A host of activities such as Mathematics Quiz, Puzzles and Sudoku were organized for various classes as a part of the ‘Ganit Week.’ To sensitize the students regarding the life history of Sh. Ramanujan and his contribution in the field of Mathematics, a film on the life of Sh. Ramanujan was shown to the students. The students took a pledge to learn mathematical skills by putting their heart and soul into it and materialize the dream of Srinivasan Ramanujan for smart and intelligent India.

The evening was reserved for a gala presentation. The Greenknights Fiesta was graced by Shri R.J. Khanderao, Regional Officer, CBSE, Panchkula as the Chief Guest and was accorded a warm welcome by Shri Rajesh Rudhra, Chairman- cum- Director of Chain of Green Land Schools, Mr. Shabad Rudhra (President of the Trust). Sh.S.K.Kakkar, Sh.Sandeep Kakkar, Guest of honour along with Mrs.Usha Rudhra (General Secretary), Mrs. Vijayata Rudhra (Director of Green Land Convent School – Dugri), Principal of various branches of Green Land Schools, Ms. Baldeep Pandher & Ms. Vinita Sanan, Members of Managing Committee were extended a cordial welcome by Ms. Jyoti Sachdev Pujara (Manager of the host school) & Ms. Alka Mahajan, the Principal of the host School. All the dignitaries were given guard of honour by NCC cadets. The celebrations began with the mesmerizing performance by the school orchestra. The perfect and scintillating display of incredible talents of the students through a wonderful choreographic presentation ‘Vasundhra’ juxtaposing the beautiful green earth in the past with the earth facing the adverse effects of global warming was an embodiment of grace and poise. The Earth warriors spread the message of a Greener and Safer Earth and inspired the audience to adopt steps and changes to contribute their bit to help save the Mother Earth.
The mood of the audience was further elevated as the budding Greenknights captivated everyone with their tug of war between Healthy and Junk Food. The message was to be a Healthy eater so that the benefits of a healthy food could be gained. The audience was engulfed with emotion and got into the characters themselves after viewing a musical dance choreography ‘Nirvana’ charting the life of brave valiant ‘Ashoka- the Samrat’. It depicted the pivotal role played by a ‘Mother’ in instilling values of love, compassion, sacrifice, humility in humans, as her purpose of life.
The tribal dance depicting the life style of tribal of seven sisterly states of North East India left everyone spell bound.
The play ‘Dhukhde Kaleerey’ main attraction of the function which was a satire on those who dream of going abroad. The play presented the pathos of a girl, who is married to an old man by her family, in the hope that it would help them go abroad. The play was acknowledged and appreciated by the audience.
The fun, thrill & energy seemed to grow endlessly when the Greenknights took the audience for a laughter ride through a skit that passed satire on the fake Babas who misguide the innocent people.
The grand finale was packed with energy and enthusiasm. The mutyaars and gabrus of Greenknights in their desi Punjab style were the showstoppers of the evening as they brought alive the whole world on the stage with vibrant colours and pulsating music by the scintillating Gidda and Bhangra.
As the Christmas is around the corner, the dazzling little ones of our school gave a feeling of Christmas celebration, with a tinkling sound of happy bells, lights sparkling everywhere and hymn of joy and peace resounded the arena.
Prize Distribution ceremony happens to be the most awaited event of the Annual Day. Achievers both of academics and sports were given away the prizes by the Chief guest. All the dignitaries congratulated the winners for their achievements. The Chief Guest Sh.R.J. Khanderao, appreciated & praised the exhilarating performances put up by the ardent Greenknights and inspired them to imbibe true values and become an invaluable asset to the nation. He remarked, “The Greenknights are the new face of a glorious future and represent the hopes and desire of the nation. Green Land Convent School is surely leaving no stone unturned to hone and chisel the skills and talent of the students by providing an international platform and a conducive learning environment to prepare the Greenknights to overcome every difficulty and challenge with triumph.”
The Chairman-Cum-Director of the Chain of Green Land Schools Sh. Rajesh Rudhra addressed the gathering and motivated the parents to strengthen the bond between school and home for the development of the children on a right path. He asked the parents to provide their children value based education to advance the cherished traditions and beliefs of Indian culture. He further added that Greenland is committed to serve the nation by fostering family values in the living culture of youngsters as education is incomplete without the moral values.
Ms. Jyoti Sachdev Pujara, Manager of the host school who has been the torch bearer, enlightened the achievements of the school in her speech.
While presenting the vote of thanks the Principal Ms. Alka Mahajan extended her gratitude to the honorable chief guest and the august gathering for their gracious presence.
The programme culminated with the National Anthem leaving behind the promise of a handful of brighter hues the next year.
Diwali
The ambience of Green Land Convent School, Civil City experienced the true spirit of love,joy and compassion as it celebrated Diwali with great fervour. A special assembly was conducted to mark the auspicious festival. All the students of the school took a pledge as being the custodian of Mother earth, to celebrate ‘Green Diwali’ without use of crackers and in a dignified and noble way keeping in mind the essence of the festival. The students pledged to gift saplings with sweets to their friends and relatives to sensitize them to celebrate eco-friendly and Green Diwali. The campus of Greenland was abuzz with activities as the zest and enthusiasm of Diwali reverberated among students and teachers. To mark the Diwali celebrations, an Inter House Rangoli Competition and Diwali Decoration Competition was organized for classes VI-X. The students participated enthusiastically and displayed their talents by making beautiful and colorful rangoli with intricate designs.
The students of primary wing, classes II to V participated in Card Making Activity. The whole school brimmed with gaiety and mirth as the vibrant hues spread the message of goodwill.
Ms. Alka Mahajan, the school Principal greeted the Green-Knights and urged them to imbibe the true spirit of Diwali, the victory of righteousness. She also appealed the students to refrain from bursting crackers and celebrate a pollution free Diwali. The fervour of Diwali illuminated every nook and corner of the school.
Dussehra
Keeping the festive spirit alive Green Land Convent School, Civil City, Ludhiana celebrated Dussehra with traditional gaiety and enthusiasm on 20th October, 2015. The school was decorated accordingly and ambience gave a festive look. To mark the celebrations, an Inter House Ravana Making Competition was organised among the students. The students participated enthusiastically. The participants prepared and decorated the grand effigies of Ravana. Depicting the triumph of good over the evil, the effigy of Ravana was consigned to flames by the students disguised as Lord Rama. The school brimmed with gaiety and mirth as the vibrant hues spread the message of goodwill.

Toy Show
Green Land Convent School, Civil City organised a ‘Toy Show’ for the students of primary section. Students participated in it with great zeal and showcased exemplary enthusiasm. It was a delight to watch the students dressed up in the attire of their favourite toy. The young ones wooed everyone by using the props and showing their talent, they also recited the rhymes for their favourite teddy’s, dolls and remote cars. This proved to be a playful learning experience for them. The students confidently gave their presentations and used the platform effectively. It was an enriching experience for them which enhanced their oratory skills.

Shaheed Bhagat Singh
Green Land Convent School, Civil City celebrated the birth anniversary of immortal revolutionary, Shaheed Bhagat Singh, who embraced the gallows for the sake of freedom of the motherland from the clutches of the British. A special assembly was held to pay rich tributes to Shaheed-e-Azam. To mark the celebrations, an assemblage of events took place ranging from patriotic songs to dramatization of the play, “Jashan-e-Azadi”. The dramatization encompassed a vibrant display of ‘Bomb attack on legislative Assembly’ by Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Batukeshwar Dutt and Sukhdev interspersed with music and patriotic songs. The audience were enthralled and filled with pride of being an Indian.
Speaking on the occasion, the school Principal Ms. Alka Mahajan addressed the students and exhorted them to follow in the footsteps of great leaders. She added that the spirit of sacrifice shown by Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh in the prime of his life would continue to inspire the generations to come.
Gandhi Jayanti
Green Land Convent School, Civil City celebrated the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, The Father of Nation and Lal Bahadur Shastri, the former Prime Minister of India with great zeal and grandeur. The students and teachers commemorate the occasion by paying their rich tributes to the solemn souls.
The students relished the melodious singing of ‘Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram’ and ‘De Di Hume Aazadi Bina Kharag Bina Dhal.’ The day was abuzz with activity. The Kindergarten students marked the day by leading a re-enactment of Dandi March, a campaign of peaceful protest against the British monopoly in colonial India. It was a delightful sight to watch the tiny tots sporting pyjama Kurta and wearing Gandhi Cap raising slogan ‘A pinch of salt rocks an empire.’ Chanting and displaying catchy slogans and banners, the little one rallied around the school spreading the message of non-violence and truth.
To apprise the students about the painstaking efforts taken by the freedom fighters an Inter Class G.K. Quiz was also organized for the students of Primary wing based on the life history of the great leaders. Students participated in the quiz with utmost zeal and enthusiasm.
The Principal, Ms. Alka Mahajan, urged the students if they want to bring an end to the orgy of violence and restore the world peace or for that matter mankind, they have to follow in the footsteps of Gandhiji by adopting ahimsa. At the end she shared it with all present the importance of Gandhiji’s thought “Be the change you want to see in the world.”
Rakhi Making Competition
With a view to strengthen the bond of love between brothers and sisters, a Rakhi Making Competition was held at Greenland Convent School, Civil City. The competition evoked a lot of enthusiasm and participation from the students. They enjoyed the opportunity provided to them to explore their latent talent. Students made marvelous rakhis using variety of decorative material like beads, glitters, ribbons and silken threads. Their artisanship was quite fascinating.
The Principal of School, Ms. Alka Mahajan appreciated the endeavour of the children and appraised the students about the importance of Raksha Bandhan. She added that such competitions explore the creativity among the students. The best rakhis were displayed on the display boards and certificates were awarded to the students.
Healthy Tiffin Competition
Green Land Convent School, Civil City, Ludhiana organised a ‘Healthy Tiffin Competition’ for the tiny tots of the Pre-Primary wing. The little ones proudly displayed the tiffins prepared by their loving Moms. Their mothers had put in their best efforts to make the tiffin look sumptuous, nutritious, attractive and delicious. All the lunch boxes looked colourful and tempting. Students were also eager to show off their boxes to their classmates.
The competition was conducted to remind parents the significance of healthy food in the growing years of their child’s life. The colourful presentation, comprising sprouts, fruits, juice & salads salivated the taste buds of the little ones. The Principal of the school, Ms. Alka Mahajan said, “In the era of fast food, it’s an humble endeavour to inculcate healthy eating habits among the tiny tots. Parents should encourage the children to embrace such eating routine that is essential for the physical and mental health of their child.”
The food in the tiffins were judged on nutritional value, presentation and taste.
Inter House Pot Painting Competition
Green Land Convent School, Civil City, Ludhiana organized an Inter House Pot Painting Competition. The competition was among the four houses -Jagriti, Jyoti, Kirti & Shakti for the students of classes IV to X. All the students participated with great gusto and enthusiasm. It brought out their hidden talents. The students gave wings to their wide imagination and decorated the pots with the colour of their dreams. The creativity and innovation of the students was commendable. It was an enthralling show which attracted everyone’s attention.
The school Principal Ms. Alka Mahajan motivated and encouraged the artists. She opined that such competitions develop the aesthetic sense of the children. She further added that these competitions are must to enhance the confidence and talent of the students.

‘Jashan-e-Azadi’
Green Land Convent School, Civil City celebrated 69th Independence Day ‘Jashan-e-Azadi’ with gaiety and fervour. The President of Chain of Green Land Schools, Mr. Shabad Rudhra was the chief guest of the day. The celebration commenced with the unfurling of National Flag by the chief guest followed by the National Anthem.
To mark the celebrations, an assemblage of events took place ranging from patriotic songs to dance. The dramatization encompassed a vibrant display of ‘Bomb attack on legislative assembly by Shaheed Bhagat Singh and Sukhdev interspersed with music and patriotic songs. The audience was filled with excitement, pride of being an Indian. The choreography on ‘Jashan-e-Azadi’ left everyone break into tears. It stressed on the sensitivity towards humanity.
The Chief Guest of the day, Sh. Shabad Rudhra in his address to the students said that students are the future of the Nation and the country is looking on them. So they should widen their horizon to make their country a great nation. He stressed that we all should put sincere efforts to eradicate all the evils from our country in order to make it exceptionally great.
While addressing the students, the school Principal Ms. Alka Mahajan laid stress on the values of patriotism imparted by our patriots and opined that we should put all our efforts to keep our flag flying high.
It was a rich learning experience for the students. They cherished the value of freedom and patriotism.
Teej Celebration
Green Land Convent School, Civil City celebrated ‘Teej ’ with full Zeal and vivacity. The students and teachers came attired in colourful Punjabi dresses. In order to promote rich cultural heritage of North during Teej Celebrations, an Inter Class Group Dance Competition for Pre-Primary Wing, an Intra Class Solo Folk Dance Competition for Primary Wing, an Inter House Mehndi Competition for Senior Section based on Punjabi culture and folk were organised which added life to the colourful atmosphere. All the participants were cheered up by the students as they gave heart throbbing performances. The folk dance of Punjab-Giddha and Bhangra added exuberance to the show. Students created an aura of happiness, enthusiasm and ecstasy. Senior Girls also performed on various Punjabi folks. Students enjoyed eating sweets like kheer/malpura. Traditional articles like bagh, phulkari, charkha, pakhi, chhajj etc were displayed. Girls swang on decorated swings called peengs and their hands and feet were beautified with complicated mehndi designs.
The school Principal, Ms. Alka Mahajan also joined the celebrations and blessed all the children. She added that these traditional celebrations are essence of our life and a glimpse of our rich cultural heritage. These festivals seem to be taking a back seat in modern scenario but we, at Green Land try to imbibe the cultural values of our state by solemnizing such festivals.

A Modeling Contest on the theme ‘Alphabets'
Green Land Convent School, Civil City organized a modeling contest on the theme ‘Alphabets’ in the school campus with Kindergarten students. The tiny tots enthusiastically participated in the competition. They came dressed up according to the alphabets allotted to them. Monsoon Rain Party
On the arrival of monsoon, the tiny tots of Green Land Convent School, Civil City, Ludhiana enjoyed the rain when a Monsoon Rain Dance Party was organised for Kindergarten Section today.
The kiddies danced, hopped, jumped and waved their colourful umbrellas on music beats. They twisted their feet on famous songs ‘Aaj Blue hai pani pani, Barso Re Megha Megha’ and recited the rhymes for the same.
The tiny tots enjoyed the fragrance of the wet soil, sprouting green plants and gush of fresh air. Wearing the colourful raincoats and holding colourful umbrellas the tiny tots had a sigh of relief. The kids were accompanied by their teachers. The Principal of the School, Ms. Alka Mahajan also joined them and became the part of their enjoyment and expressed her perspective that these kinds of occasions bring freshness on everybody’s face.
Interhouse solo song competition
Green Land Convent School Civil City, Ludhiana organized ‘Jashan-E-Sur’, An Inter House Solo Song Competition in the school premises. Many participants from the houses-Jagriti, Jyoti, Kirti and Shakti presented Hindi soulful songs and Punjabi folk songs which were highly applauded by the audience. The students participated in the competition with great enthusiasm and gusto.
The participants with their songs ‘Jugni’, ‘Kande utte mehrma vae’, ‘Kamli’, ‘Hasi ban gye’, ‘Aashiana’ mesmerised the audience. The whole campus was filled with joy and musical notes.
While speaking, the school Principal Ms. Alka Mahajan said that by organising such competitions the students will excel in developing their overall personality as these activities help in boosting confidence in them and exploring their hidden talent.

X CBSE Result
An overflow of enthusiasm drenched the environment in the premises of Green Land Convent School, Civil city when class X students (2014-15) batch presented remarkable result declared by C.B.S.E. They added another feather in the cap of the school by giving 100% result. Everyone was in a jubilant mood. 40% of the appeared candidates scored CGPA-10.
Sh. Rajesh Rudhra, the Chairman cum Director of the school felicitated the efforts of the students and the teachers. He encouraged them to uphold the name of the school in the coming years as well. Manager of the school Ms. Jyoti Pujara applauded the efforts of teachers & Students for giving excellent result.
Ms. Alka Mahajan, the school Principal extolmented them on their success and appreciated the painstaking efforts taken by them. She also opined that hard work takes a person to the horizons of success and glory.
Summer Camp
A 10 Days long summer camp commenced at Green Land Convent School, Civil City with great fun and frolic. The students got the platform to explore their hidden talent & make optimum use of their leisure time. Various activities like Cricket, Dance Art & Craft, Computer, Music, Karate, & Communication Skills were string together to groom up their personalities.
The school Principal Ms. Alka Mahajan welcomed the Manager of the school Ms. Jyoti Pujara and encouraged the students to recognize their abilities and aptitudes and groom them further in the under the able guidance of the experts.
Talent hunt on ‘Funny Mask’ in the Art & Craft section was enjoyed by one and all. The students had a great fun during the first day of the summer camp and were very excited to be part of it.
Pool Party
Green Land convent School, Civil City organised ‘Pool Party’ for Kindergarten students. The kids came dressed in their favourite swimming costumes and splashed the heat away. Tiny Tots had their first experience of being in a swimming pool which was decorated with colourful balls, toys and water animals. The students tapped their feet to the latest dancing numbers and enjoyed lemonade and various summer juices.

An aura of excitement and fantasy was created amongst the kiddies.
Shape Day Celebrations
Green Land Convent School, Civil City organized ‘Fun with Shapes’ activity for the Kindergarten students on 20th May, 2015. The tiny tots were apprised about the importance of shapes in our lives. The students brought various food items of different shapes. The tiny tots played and enjoyed numerous games like Blind fold, Magic box. A quiz was also held for them to enhance their understanding of shapes. The young minds surprised everyone with their knowledge.
The school Principal, Ms. Alka Mahajan appreciated the enthusiasm of the children. The young ones enjoyed their activity. Truly it was a day filled with fun and frolic for the kids.
Investiture Ceremony
Green Land Convent School Civil City organized the Investiture Ceremony to honour the Prefectorial Body 2015-16. Young leaders took the oath of service, duty and dedication. The school Principal Ms. Alka Mahajan administrated the oath to all the school and house appointees.
Karan has been appointed as the Head Boy of the school and Tanya is the Head Girl of the institution. Saksham has been elected the Head Boy Junior and Jasmine the Head Girl Junior. All the four houses captains and vice captains Nishima, Archit, Chahat, Arshad, Kirti, Dharnanjay, Jahnavi, Radhika house prefects and class representatives were jubilant after getting the sashes, badges and flags.
While addressing the gathering, Ms. Alka Mahajan, the school Principal said that the school creates future leaders and instills confidence in them to take up major tasks in life. She urged all the position holders to respect opinions of the students and to make correct assessment, which is a sign of true leadership.
The Royal ceremony culminated with the National Anthem.
Mother’s Day Celebration
Green Land Convent School, Civil City celebrated Mother’s Day with gaiety and joy. The venue for the occasion was festooned tastefully. Card making activity from class P.Nsy. to III was held in which the budding artists prepared exquisite cards for their mothers. Students expressed their immense and eternal love towards their mothers.
The Chairman cum Director of Chain of Green Land Convent Schools Sh. Rajesh Rudhra graced the occasion and while exhorting his greetings said that mothers are the true Nation builders. He quoted the words of Napoleon Bonaparte “You give me good Mothers, I will give you good Nation.”
While addressing the students, the school Principal Ms. Alka Mahajan mentioned that mothers ought to be revered and respected for their unfathomable, invaluable love and affection that they bestow not only on their children but on the entire family.
At the end of the day, the tiny tots surprised their mothers by presenting their ‘Hand-made creations’. All the mothers felt overwhelmed on receiving such invaluable love.
Labour Day Celebrations
Green land Convent School Civil City celebrated Labour Day with full aplomb. Various recreational activities were organised to mark the day.
The Pre-Primary kids highlighted the Dignity of Labour through an Inter class scene show to honour the hard work and dedication of all those who put their heart and soul to contribute in the smooth running of the school. K.G. Calendula bagged first prize. K.G. Bluebell & Nsy. Bluebell won second position. K.G. Aster got third place. Nsy. Aster got consolation Prize.
Students of Senior Wing observed the day by participating in an Inter House Elocution Competition in which the young speakers lauded the ceaseless efforts of the work force of the nation and school. They spotlighted the history behind Labour Day celebrations. Kirti House bagged first prize. Jyoti House won second position and Shakti House got third place. Jagriti House got consolation Prize.
The School Principal Ms. Alka Mahajan while addressing the students underlined the need, importance and noteworthiness of the role of these workers in our lives. She also emphasized upon the value of Dignity of labour which helps a person to become more humane and responsible towards his fellow beings.

Fresher Party
Green Land Convent School, Civil City organized a Fresher’s Party on the theme ‘Blooming Flowers’. A carnival like atmosphere prevailed in tastefully decorated campus. The children attired as beautiful flowers recited rhymes based on flowers and danced to the tunes of popular numbers. The zeal and enthusiasm of the new entrants was worth seeing as they got an opportunity to showcase their talent. Tiny tots of Kindergarten recited beautiful poems and welcomed their juniors.

Hawan-Ceremony
The new session commenced with traditional ritual of Hawan to invoke the blessings of the Almighty in the premises of Green Land Convent School, Civil City. The Chairman cum Director of Chain of Green land schools Sh. Rajesh Rudhra, Mrs. Usha Rudhra (Gen. Secretary), Mr. Shabad Rudhra (President), Mrs. Vijayata Rudhra (Director) and the school Principal Ms. Alka Mahajan performed the Hawan. The entire staff and students of the school participated in this sacred act amidst the chanting of Gayatri Mantra. Every one offered Ahuti and prayed for the happy and prosperous year ahead.
Speaking on the occasion Sh. Rajesh Rudhra enlightened the students about the true meaning and importance of Hawan. He told that the fire and smoke originating from Hawan purifies not only the atmosphere but also cleanses our mind and soul. He further added that plants help to keep our surroundings clean. Keeping up this spirit Director Sh. Rajesh Rudhra and President Mr. Shabad Rudhra distributed saplings to the students which they planted in the school campus. Pandit Sh. Somnath Ji Vashist who performed all the rituals and Hawan told the meaning of every mantra to the students. He gave his blessings to the students and prayed to God for providing them intelligence and concentration to accomplish their studies.
The school principal Ms. Alka Mahajan also congratulated the students and gave her blessings for success in the New Session. The Hawan culminated with Aarti and hymns in the praise of Almighty.
FAREWELL PARTY
The management, staff and students of Green Land convent school, Civil City bid adieu to class XII by organizing farewell ‘Au Revoir’. The school was decorated tastefully and students of XI received their seniors with complete excitement. The warm hearted send off and the fun filled celebration was chaired by the Chairman cum Director of Chain of Green Land Schools Sh. Rajesh Rudhra.
The enthusiasm and gusto of the party peeled off its layers with smiles, tears, reminiscences and a cultural bonanza comprising songs, dances and various eye-catching items. Class XII students remembered their nostalgic moments with friends, faculty and juniors in and around the campus.
The Chairman-cum-Director of Chain of Green Land Schools, Sh. Rajesh Rudhra showered his blessings on the students and said that the efforts, determination and confidence in students is appreciable. He congratulated them for the successful completion of their respective courses. He advised them not to compromise on their values for success because success without values is not consistent.
Ms. Jyoti Pujara, the Manager of the school gave her hearty felicitations and best wishes to the outgoing class. She informed them that inner strength is necessary for success in life.
The Principal of the school, Ms. Alka Mahajan motivated the students to empower themselves for all their future endeavours. She asserted that the students should carry forward the morals given by their alma-mater and make these values a base of their future actions and thoughts. While wishing them, she quoted the difference between school and life. She mentioned that in school, they are taught a lesson and given a test. In life they are given a test that teaches them a lesson.
Kami, class XII student spellbound the audience with her song “We gonna miss our school days”. Aniket of VII also showed his love and affection for his seniors through his dance number. The students danced to DJ’s music. Thus an enchanting evening culminated with both happiness and nostalgia crept into each one.
Overall Trophy Bagged by Green Land Schools in LSSC Table Tennis Tournament 2014-15
Ludhiana Sahodaya School Complex Table Tennis Tournament 2014-15 for boys & girls (U-14, U-16, U-19) Culminated at Green Land Convent School Civil City. The event was played in different knock out rounds and more than 68 teams from 20 various CBSE affiliated schools showed their mettle during the tournament Green Land Schools emerged as champions by winning 8 Trophies out of total 18 Trophies.
Sh Rajesh Rudhra, Chairman cum Director of the Chain of Green Land Convent Schools, presided over the function, while giving away the prizes he congratulated the winning teams and said that it is the vision of the school to develop the players as per their potential and nurture their kinesthetic skills.
The Manager of the school Ms. Jyoti Pujara gave her blessing and good wishes to all the participants and motivated them to play the game with true sportsmanship spirit.

Republic Day Celebrations
Green Land Convent School, Civil City celebrated 66th Republic Day with great patriotic fervor. The campus dazzled with the vibrant hues of the Tri colour. The Chairman cum Director of chain of Green Land Schools, Sh. Rajesh Rudhra the Chief Guest of the day unfurled the National Flag. The students of the school presented a cultural Bonanza in the form of thought provoking speeches & dance performances. The message giving choreography ‘Vajood’ depicting the fundamental rights and duties of the citizens enthralled the audience. The Tiny Tots of the school mesmerized the audience with their action dance on the song “Nanha Munna Rahi Hoon”.
An air of tranquility encompassed the school campus when patriotic songs rekindled the spirit of nationalism and love for motherland in every heart present here. The entire campus resonated with the echoes of ‘Jai Hind’ and ‘Vande Matram’
In his address to students, Sh. Rajesh Rudhra motivated the students to remember the dedication, suffering and struggle of the freedom fighters and leaders, who gave India its freedom. He insisted that the need of the hour is to realize our duty towards our country and protect the country. He added that it the duty of every citizen to render National Service when called upon to do so.
In her message to students, Ms. Alka Mahajan, school Principal urged the students to respect their motherland not only on particular days but on daily basis. She added that to be a responsible citizen we should not only be aware of our fundamental rights but the duties also and should abide by them.
Basant Panchami
The ambience of Green Land Convent School, Civil City experienced the true spirit of love, joy and compassion as it celebrated ‘Basant Panchami’ with great fervor. A special assembly was conducted to mark the auspicious festival. Students and the staff members joined in the celebration to welcome the new season. The students sang hymns and prayers to seek the blessings of goddess Saraswati. As the tradition goes, the young ones wore yellow attire filling the atmosphere with vibrant spirit of Basant. The tiny tots relished the sweet-dishes and enjoyed the occasion.
Sh. Rajesh Rudhra the Chairman cum Director of the chain of Green Land schools while extending the greetings said that Education is the integral part of life and students need to dedicate themselves to learning to achieve their goals.
In her address to the students, Ms. Alka Mahajan Principal of the school urged the students to worship goddess Saraswati for intelligence, intellect and prosperity. She added that they also have to put efforts as the blessings will be beneficial only if they will work hard.
Lohri Celebrations
Amidst the freezing cold weather, the students of Green Land School, Civil City, experienced some respite as they were involved in a palpable wave celebrating Lohri, the festival of holy bonfire. The campus boomed with ecstasy as the students celebrated Lohri with great zeal and fanfare.
A special assembly was organised to mark this festival which marks the advent of bright and vibrant season. The assembly commenced with the thoughtful speech delivered by students of the school highlighting the significance of the festival which is harbinger of spring season. It was followed by traditional Lohri songs. The performers mesmerized everyone with the traditional folk dance ‘Giddha’ and made everyone dance to the tunes. A kite flying competition was also organised for the kids to exhibit their talent.
Chairman Cum Director of the school Sh. Rajesh Rudhra ,while extending the greetings exhorted the students to respect and value our rich heritage.
Speaking on the occasion, the school Principal, Ms. Alka Mahajan encouraged the students to have a feeling of camaraderie and goodwill for their fellow beings. She added that such traditional festivals are our roots and without these we can’t succeed in modern world.
Christmas celebrations
Fairies and angels descended at Green Land Convent School, Civil City, Ludhiana to wish the tiny tots. The campus of the school reverberated with the true spirit of love and compassion. The Class rooms were tastefully decorated, giving a feeling of Christmas celebrations with the tinkling sound of happy bells, lights sparkling everywhere and hymns of joy and peace resonating all around. The students enjoyed themselves by participating in balloon bursting, blowing candles and many more games. The young buds enthralled the audience with their dances and Christmas carols. The Greenknights vowed to spread the message of world peace and brotherhood on this pious occasion.
The school Principal, Ms. Alka Mahajan highlighted the importance of the festival. She added that it is the need of the hour to imbibe the teachings sermonized by Lord Jesus. She motivated the students to spread the message of love and brotherhood in the society. The joyful ambience, the pious carol singing and the laughter induced by Santa Claus added merriment to this holy festival.
Annual prize Distribution Function
Green Land Convent School, Civil City organized ‘The Annual Prize Distribution and Cultural Bonanza-Jazba in the school premises on 15th Dec, 2014 in which more than 500 students participated. On this occasion, the Chief Guest S. Manpreet Singh Ayali, MLA Guest of Honour S. Narinder Singh Malhi, Councillor were accorded a warm reception by the Chairman of Chain of Green Land Schools, Sh. Rajesh Rudhra. The Principal of the school Ms. Alka Mahajan extended a cordial welcome to members of Sant Kirpal Vidyak Mission Mr. Shabad Rudhra President, Smt. Usha Rudhra General Secretary, Mrs. Vijayata Director Green Land Convent School, Dugri and Principals of various Green Land Schools Ms. Baldeep Pandher Principal Jalandhar Byepass School, Ms. Vinita Sanan Principal Sector-32, Chandigarh Road, School, Ms. Jyoti Pujara Principal New Subhash Nagar School and Ms. Amarjit Dhaliwal Principal Dugri School and other dignitaries.
The function commenced with the ceremonial lighting of lamp by the chief Guest S.Manpreet Singh Ayali and Chairman Sh. Rajesh Rudhra, President Mr. Shabad Rudhra, the Principals of Green Land Schools and other eminent guests. The Principal of the school Ms. Alka Mahajan, welcomed the reverend guests and announced the theme of the ceremony ‘Jazba’. She explained that in today’s materialistic scenario it is necessary to feel motivated to relieve others from their sufferings.
The Annual Report highlighting the National, State, District and Zonal level achievements of the school and entire Green Land institution was read out. The program embarked with an invocation to Bhagwan Ganesh Ji in the form of ‘Ganesh Vandana.’ The performance signified the real motto of the institution – not to produce the bookworms or human robots, but the humanes. The students displayed their values of devotion towards the almighty Lord. Tiny tots of the institution presented a dance on ‘ Recycle it’ that underlined the need to have an approach towards 3 R’s i.e. ‘Reduce, Reuse and Recycle’ and motivated the audience to practice these in their daily lives. They showcased on the message of ‘Environmental Sensitisation.’
The Rajasthani Dance ‘Teerah Taali’ by the girls left the audience spellbound through the traditional folk dance. This highlighted the glimpse of cultural Diversity of India as well as the dictum of the school of inculcating the traditional values, respect for womanhood in the minds of the young souls. Another performance ‘Fusion’ a perfect blend of classical and western dance showcased the comprehensive development of the students. The choreography on the theme of ‘Jazba’ left everyone break into tears. The students made the audience familiar about the miserable conditions of the sufferers of Jammu & Kashmir deluge and the painstaking efforts of the management of the school to imbibe the sensitivity towards humanity. The children presented laudable and astounding performance on the theme of tenderness towards mankind and to have empathy for them.
A play ‘Mukti’ brought the reality of life in front of the audience. It was an ardent effort to unfold the state of diminishing family values from our lives. This further explained the value of teaching of respecting parents and stressed on the immense importance of selfless and unconditional love of our parents.
The academics and sports achievers were given away the prizes by the chief guest S. Manpreet Singh Ayali, the chairman of the school Sh. Rajesh Rudhra and President Mr. Shabad Rudhra. All the dignitaries congratulated the winners on their achievements.
After the Prize Distribution the function was resumed back. The presentation of Mime, based on the topic ‘Use of excessive gizmos’ made everyone laugh hilariously. It spotlighted the pros and cons of excess of anything and also that we have become a puppet in the hands of technology.
The tapping foot of young Green Knights on the traditional dance ‘Bhangra’ mesmerized everyone.
The chief guest S. Manpreet Singh Ayali in his address appreciated the students of Green Land Convent School , Civil City for their talent & achievements. He admired the efforts taken by school to inculcate the human & moral values, sympathy and empathy among the students and hoped that the children realize their duty towards others. He also praised the tireless efforts taken by Sh. Rajesh Rudhra to make the school reach its distinguished position not only in the state but also at the national level.
While blessing the students, Sh. Rajesh Rudhra said that it is the need of the hour that today’s generation should realize their duty towards their elders and motherland. They should be compassionate about protecting the Indian values. He added that education is incomplete without instilling the human values in the young minds and Green Land is committed to serve the nation by nurturing family, cultural & patriotic values in youngsters and elucidated the importance of 7 pillars of education. He congratulated the school principal Ms. Alka Mahajan, all the staff members and students for putting up a marvellous event.
The School Principal Ms. Alka Mahajan, also emphasized on the need of fostering human values in the learners as they are the nation-builders. She encouraged the students to have brotherly love and to become responsible and shining citizen of India. She said that we don’t teach our students we give them a wish to learn and help them to reach the stage of self actualisation.
The function ended with the recital of National Anthem.
Swach Bharat Swach Vidyalaya, The Global Hand Washing Day
Endorsing the CBSE project, Swach Bharat Swach Vidyalaya, The Global Hand Washing Day was observed in true spirit at Green Land Convent School, Civil City. The students were apprised about the eight main steps of hand washing. To enhance their understanding a power point presentation and a short film highlighting the significance of proper hand washing in staying healthy and preventing diseases were also shown. Addressing the students the Principal Ms. Alka Mahajan exhorted them to take back the good practices of hygiene learnt at school back to their homes ensuring sustained behavioural change and encouraged them to be ambassadors of personal hygiene & cleanliness.
Gandhi Jayanti
Green Land Convent School, Civil City celebrated the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi with great fervor. To pay homage to The Father Of Nation Mahatma Gandhi, one of his favourite tenets ‘Cleanliness Is Next to Godliness’, was given a call for ‘Swachh Bharat Swachh Vidalaya Campaign’ by the school management. The students participated in the campaign with utmost zeal and happiness. The kindergarten students came dressed up as various freedom fighters Lal Bahadur Shastri, Mahatma Gandhi etc. They were shown an animated movie based on Environment Cleanliness.
The students of Class II-XII also participated in the cleanliness campaign with great enthusiasm and cleaned their respective classrooms. Various competitions like Slogan Writing Competition, Poster Making Competition and calligraphy Competitions based on themes Time Management, Cleanliness and Dignity of labour were also organized. The school Principal, Ms. Alka Mahajan appreciated the efforts of the staff members and students and added that the spirit of hygiene and cleanliness should be inculcated in the children from the very initial years of the schooling.
Janamashtami Celebrations
Janamashtami, the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna, the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu and the Saviour of Dharma was celebrated with religious fervour at Green Land Convent School, Civil City, Ludhiana. The Chairman of the Chain of Green Land Schools, Sh. Rajesh Rudhra was the Chief Guest of the ceremony. He was accompanied with Mr. Shabad Rudhra the President and Mrs. Usha Rudhra Secretary of the trust. They were given a warm welcome by the School Principal.
The students of Kindergarten Wing came dressed up as Radha, Krishna and devotees. The school was decorated with flowers, bells, buntings, Maakhan Matkis and rangoli. The celebrations began with Lord Krishna Abhishek followed by bhajans and aarti that created the religious aura in the school. The students presented vibrant dance items on the life of Lord Krishna and left everyone spellbound with their captivating performances. Radha and Krishna on the traditional swing adorned with flowers attracted one and all.
While addressing the students, the Chairman of the school Sh. Rajesh Rudhra apprised students about the relevance of celebrating this special day. He further added that every individual must strive to embody the strengths and qualities of Lord Krishna. The School Principal, while addressing the students urged them to follow the principles laid by Lord Krishna in Bhagwad Gita in their daily life.
Independence Day Celebrations
The 68th Independence Day of our nation was celebrated at Green Land Convent School, Civil City with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour. The school premises was decorated with national flags and tri-colour balloons. Children were carrying tri-colour flags in their hands to show their love for the motherland. The Chairman of the chain of Green Land Schools, Sh. Rajesh Rudhra was the Chief Guest of the ceremony. He was accompanied with Mr. Shabad Rudhra, President of the trust and lovely little Hridhay Partap Singh Rdhra. They were accorded a warm floral welcome by the Principal of the school.
The function began with unfurling the National Flag by the distinguished Guest of the day, Sh. Rajesh Rudhra. After that the students presented the cultural programme. They presented patriotic dance items and sang patriotic songs to pay the homage to the martyrs and expressed their love and concern for the nation. The students invoked the blessings of the motherland through the National song. The school campus was echoed with melodious patriotic songs.
While addressing the students, Sh. Rajesh Rudhra informed them that the countries which do not want India to progress and prosper they prey the youth by making them addicted to the intoxicants and drugs. He awakened the students to stay away from such menace and must be aware of keeping good health and stamina as the prosperity of our country lies on their shoulders. He also commended the efforts of the students and exhorted them to take pledge to safe guard the freedom of our country.
The school Principal asked the students to remain loyal and patriotic for their nation. To end up the evils in the society each one of us has to be loyal in our dealings. The function ended up with the oath ceremony.
Inter House Face Painting Competition
Green Land Convent School, organized an Inter House Face Painting competition. The competition was among the four houses -Jagriti, Jyoti, Kirti & Shakti for the students of classes VI to X. All the students participated with great zeal and enthusiasm.
The competition gave the students a reason to bring in spectrum of cheer and joy. With a face as the canvas, the artists enhanced their natural contours with concepts, designs and themes. The creativity of the participants on various themes like- religion, patriotism, nature, birds & animals and child abuse, had everyone in awe. The students displayed amazing creativity. It was an enthralling show which attracted everyone’s attention.
The judges for the events had a tough time choosing the winners. The presentation and the thought process coupled with the efforts invested by the participants were the deciding factors for the judges.
Peru & Kanishka from (Shakti House) bagged the I prize in the competition. Nandini & Tridev from (Jyoti House) won the II prize, Shivanshu from (Shakti House) & Arzoo from (Jagriti House) grabbed the III prize. Chahat from (Jyoti House) got consolation prize.
The Principal of the school congratulated the winners. She opined that such competitions develop the aesthetic sense of the children. She further added that these competitions are must to enhance the confidence and talent of the students.
Colouring, Poster Making and Slogan Writing Competition
Green Land Convent School, buzzed with different Inter Class Competitions. The Colouring Competition was organized for the students of Kindergarten wing. It was organized to display their creativity and to bring out their hidden talents. The little kids gave wings to their wide imagination and filled the sheets with the colours of their dreams. The cheerfulness of the students was at its peak.
The winners of the Colouring Competition were Yogya, Harsimrat, Himansh, Dhruvi, Diksha, Sanchi, Sanjeevani, Kashish, Lakshita, Siddhi, Parneet, Bhumika, Angelina.
Inter Class Poster Making and Slogan Writing Competitions were also organized for the Primary Wing. The themes were ‘Say No to Polythene, Save Water, Moral Values and Literacy’.
The students participated with great zeal and enthusiasm. The excitement was written large on their faces. The creativity and innovation of the students was commendable. The panel of judges had a hard time in evaluating the art of young children. However, the best of the best were chosen by the judges, the results were as follows:

Mother's Day Celebration
Mother’s Day was celebrated in the school premises of Green Land Convent School, Civil City, Ludhiana with great devotion. It is the perfect occasion to acknowledge our mother’s place in our heart and life. It is a day which we dedicate to our mothers and motherland. Students of the Pre Primary and Primary Section showcased their love for their mother by making beautiful cards with limericks written on it.
The students were told that they must pay respect to their motherland by safeguarding the interest of their country. The school Principal Ms. Jyoti Pujara applauded the efforts of the students. Speaking on the occasion, she emphasized on the need of respecting mother who is an embodiment of sacrifice and selfless love. She stressed that mother deserves a big ‘Thanks’ everyday for her contribution in our lives.
An Extempore Competition
An Extempore Competition was held at Green Land Convent School, Civil City, Ludhiana for the students of II & III standard to enable them to improve their ability to communicate their thoughts and feelings in an effective way.
The students actively participated in the competition. The expressions, dialogues and voice modulations were used by students to express their ideas which helped them to develop emotionally and gain a better sense of self esteem. The young speakers spoke on the topic related to Rainy Season. Speaking time was one to two minutes.
It was a day of fun & frolic which the students enjoyed to their heart’s content. The participants took the stage with confidence, a youthful swagger even.
Pihu of II std. & Sukhsimran of III std. won points and hearts. They bagged the first prize.
The first runners-up were Sejal from II std. and Gurleen from III std.
Rhythm of II std. & Swarr of III std. tied for the spot of second runners-up.
Harshit and Ishika of III std. bagged the consolation prize.
After the event, the Principal said that each one of the participants was a “good communicator, standing on the same ladder but on different rungs”. This competition plays a crucial role in the personal, social, emotional development of the students which improve their speaking skills and instill confidence in them.
Selection of Student Council
‘Investiture Ceremony’ to mark the leadership qualities of its Student Council appointed for the session 2014-15. The school believes in the complete personality development of its students and the promotion of its motto, ‘Be good, Do Good, Be One’ The students of the council pledged that they will uphold the good name of the school at all times and will strive for academic excellence through relentless commitment. They took the oath that they will maintain their moral values based on respect and brotherly love.
Daksh and Ankita have been appointed as the school head boy and head girl and Manpreet and Harshita have been appointed as ‘Head Boy and ‘Head Girl’ Junior respectively. All the four houses captains and vice captains Gracia, Tanya, Somya, Manmeet, Shiva, Nikhil, Rahul Sharma, Ashish, house prefects and class representatives were honoured with badges and shashes by the Principal of the school. She administrated the oath to the entire school council and provided them the word of advice that they should follow for their lifetime. She also congratulated the student body and enlightened them with their duties and liabilities that it is their responsibility to maintain the discipline in the school. They should never let their emotions degenerate into harshness, hostility or prejudice. They must truly uphold the good name of the school and maintain strong character based on mutual understanding.
Indeed it was a Royal Ceremony depicting a new model of leadership amongst the students. The programme came to an end with the National Anthem.
Enjoying the Splash Pool Party
A ‘ Splash Pool Party’ was organised for the tiny tots of Kindergarten Section on 20th & 21st May, 2014 to beat the heat. The students partied all through the day. A beach scene was enacted for the students. The kids enjoyed a lot splashing water in the pool. The pool was decorated with colourful toys, balls, umbrellas and balloons. The young toddlers came dressed up in colourful swimming costumes. They danced on the tunes of popular songs.
Different juices and fruits were also relished by the kids. To make the day full of fun, rhymes and action words related to pool party were also taught to tiny tots. An aura of excitement and fantasy was created amongst students. There was a sigh of relief on everybody’s face as they got rid of the scorching heat.
The Principal, applauded the efforts made by the teachers in organizing such fun filled activities that add zest and colour to life.
100% Result of Class X (2013-14)
The students of Green Land Convent School, Civil City, Ludhiana brought laurels to the school by giving 100% result in class X declared by CBSE. More than 30% students scored 10 CGPA. Tanya, Mehak, Nancy, Jaspreet, Himanshu, Karan, Keshav, Nandan and Kalis were in jubilant mood. The students broke into celebrations as soon as the result was declared. They were happy and excited to get the reward of their hard work. The school premises was filled with vigour, enthusiasm and joy at this moment. Sh. Rajesh Rudhra, the Chairman of Chain of Green Land Schools, congratulated the students on their grand success. He applauded the hardship of the students as well as the faculty members. He encouraged them keep giving good results in coming years as well.

Say No To Tobacco
‘Say No To Tobacco’
Green Land Convent School, Civil City, Ludhiana organised Inter-House Story-Writing and Cartoon Making Competitions for the students of classes VI to VIII. The theme for the competitions was ‘Say No To Tobacco’. The stories and the cartoons made by the students highlighted the health risks associated with Tobacco use and advocated for effective policies to reduce tobacco consumption. Students focussed on discouraging the users, especially the youth, to refrain from it and build their Nation strong by freeing themselves from the curse of Tobacco.
Inter House Essay Writing and Poster-Making Competitions were also organized for the students of IX and X. The students prepared beautiful Posters with slogans like ‘BAN TOBACCO’, TOBACCO RUINS HEALTH AND LIFE’, ‘TOBACCO KILLS YOU’ etc. Through the posters the students awared the people how tobacco can ruin their life and also the life of people who are associated with them.
The Principal of the school, Ms. Jyoti Pujara applauded the efforts of the students and told them that this issue needs global attention as the use of tobacco is widely spread. Speaking on the occasion, she also highlighted the negative effects of Tobacco on health and announced the winners of these competitions.
In Story Writing Competition, Abdul of Jyoti House got the first prize, Pravneet of Kirti House bagged the second prize and third prize was won by Jasmine of Kirti House.
In Cartoon Making Competition, Divya & Janvi of Shakti House stood first, Nandini of Shakti House stood second , Vanshika of Kirti House & Aashima of Jagriti House stood third and Vinay & Janvi of Jagriti House won the consolation prize.
In Essay Writing Competition, Manmeet of Shakti House won first prize, Vanshika Nagpal of Jyoti House & Tanya Ghai of Jagriti House won second prize, Yogita of Jyoti House & Nishima of Jagriti House won third prize and consolation prize was bagged by Aditi of Jyoti House.
In Poster Making Competition, Chahat of Jyoti House, Harshini of Jagriti House & Peru of Shakti House were declared first, Abhishek Rana of Jyoti House, Kirti & Bhawna of Kirti House were second, third position was taken by Somya & Noorpreet of Kirti house and consolation prize was bagged by Riya & Sakshi of Kirti House.
Green Land seeking Blessings of Almighty during Hawan
The new session commenced at Green Land Convent School, Civil City, Ludhiana With Hawan to invoke the blessings of the Almighty. The Director – Cum- Chairman of Green Land Convent School Sh. Rajesh Rudhra, Mrs. Usha Rudhra (Gen. Secretary) and the school Principal Ms. Jyoti Pujara Performed the Hawan in school premises. Mr. Shabad Rudhra and Mrs. Vijayata Rudhra were also present. The entire staff and students of the school participated in this sacred act of amidst the chanting of Gayatri Mantras. The school staff and students offered Ahuti and prayed for the happy and prosperous year ahead.
Speaking on the occasion the Director Sh. Rajesh Rudhra enlightened the students about the true meaning and importance of Hawan. He said the fire and smoke originates from Hawan purifies not only the atmosphere but also cleans our mind and soul. Pandit Somnath ji & Pandit Ajay Vaishisht, who performed all the rituals and Hawan told the meaning of every Mantra to the students. He gave his blessings to the students and prayed to god for providing them good intelligence and concentration to accomplish their studies. The Hawan culminated with Aarti and hymns in the praise of almighty.
Fruits & Vegetables Day
The tiny tots celebrated ‘Fruits & Vegetables Day’ and ‘Healthy Tiffin Competition’ on 16th May,2014 (Friday). The main attraction of the day was that the students came attired as various fruits and vegetables. Tiny tots were looking very beautiful and attractive in their dresses. The aim was to make the students aware of the benefits of various fruits and vegetables. Students participated in the competition with great enthusiasm.
Children brought nutritious food which include green leafy vegetables, fruits, sprouts etc. The great mothers showed their zeal in preparing such a nutritious food for their kids. The school Principal, Mrs. Jyoti Pujara appreciated the efforts of students and the staff. She also encouraged the efforts of the mothers of the students who worked hard to be the best.
The tiffins prepared by the mothers were judged on the basis of presentation ,nutritive value and balanced diet. She stressed on the need to lead a disease free life by opting for healthy food and congratulated the winners of the competition.

Welcoming the New Comers
The much awaited Freshers’ Party was held on April 25, 2014 for the Kindergarten wing of the school. The function was presided over by the school Principal Ms. Jyoti Pujara. Everyone extended a warm welcome to the new comers with great zeal and enthusiasm. The young kids cheered for their peers. The high voltage music and dance performances doted out by the tiny tots were a special attraction of the day. The kids made the party unbridled and exuberant. The students were given various titles like Best Smile, Attractive, Charming, Handsome, Good Looking etc. The event provided a wonderful platform to the new comers to showcase their talent.
The Principal of the school welcomed the tiny tots. She assured that efforts would be made for the all-round development of the children. She added that such programs are organized so as to generate the feeling of fraternity among the students. All the events were artistically and beautifully presented in colours as well as style.
Exploring the Hidden Talent
Talent Hunt Competition was organised to explore the hidden talent among the students. The students showcased their talent through various events like dancing, singing, poem recitation, music etc. All the participants participated enthusiastically in different events. The audience appreciated the talent of the students and enjoyed the competition to the fullest. The Campus split with laughter and mirth when vivacious and spirited students enjoyed the function.
In her address, the school Principal Ms. Jyoti Pujara said that there is talent in every person but there is need of platform where he/she can get exposure and our school provides time to time such platform to them. She added that such events boost the confidence of the students and encourage them to come forward. The guidance of teachers further sharpens their inborn talents. She congratulated the winners and distributed the prizes to the winners of various events.
Baisakhi Celebrations
The harvest festival of Punjab, Baisakhi, was celebrated with fervour in Green Land Convent school, Civil City, Ludhiana. A special morning assembly was organised where students presented a crisp cultural programme. The entire school was soaked in the spirit of festivity. The tiny tots were shown videos clippings on this occasion. The motive behind the celebration was to make children cognizant with the historical background, significance and relevance of Baisakhi. They were made aware of the vivid and vibrant colours of rural life of Punjab through articles like Phulkari, Charkha, Chhaj, Chatti, Madhani, Pakhi, Chulha etc.
Addressing on the occasion, the Principal of the school, Mrs. Jyoti Pujara, appreciated the vigour and fervour of the students and made them well versed with the historical importance of Baisakhi. She told the students that we should not forget our own traditions under the influence of the western culture. The whole school sparkled with aura of Punjabi culture.
Basant Panchami
To mark the birth anniversary of Maa Saraswati, Basant Panchami and heralder of the spring season was celebrated at Green Land Convent School, Civil City, Ludhiana with religious fervour. The ceremony began with the worship of Goddess Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, learning wisdom, music and art. The students offered flowers to the Goddess Saraswati to seek Her blessings. They recited hymns giving a traditional touch to the aura of the school. The rhythmic beauty of song filled the air with a divine feel and atmosphere turned religious in its aspects.
The students of Kindergarten Section came attired in yellow costumes and flowers. They made beautiful yellow flowers and presented to their teachers. The students had a gala time as they welcomed the cheerful spring season bidding adieu to the dull winter. The students relished the yellow pudding prepared by their mothers. The Principal of the school, Mrs. Jyoti Sachdev Pujara acquainted the students with the relevance of the festival and added that Goddess Saraswati blesses the students with knowledge & art and further added that this day also commemorates Shabari’s offering of tasted berries to Lord Rama. She inspires the students to follow the way of intellect which takes them from darkness to light.
On the whole the students were totally absorbed in the festive spirit of Basant.
LSSC FANCY DRESS COMPETITION
Green Land Convent School, Civil City organized LUDHIANA SAHODAYA SCHOOLS COMPLEX FANCY DRESS COMPETITION on 1st February, 2014 (Saturday) for the students of Kindergarten Wing. Sh. Rajesh Rudhra, the Chairman Chain of Green Land Schools was the Chief Guest. He was given a floral welcome by the school Principal Mrs. Jyoti Sachdev Pujara. More than twenty-five teams of students from various CBSE schools of Ludhiana participated in the competition with enthusiasm and vigour. The competition started with the ceremonial lamp lighting and a vibrant dance item wishing ‘Best of Luck’ to all the participants. Dr. Shivangi Rudhra and Mrs. Seema were the judges of the event.
The Competition was conducted in three categories. Students of each category were given a different theme. The participants of category – I comprised of age 3 to 4.5 years came dressed up on the theme ‘Eat Healthy, Be Merry’. The contestants of category - II were from the age group 4.5 to 5.5 years for the theme ‘Incredible India’. ‘Save Earth, Save Life’ was the theme for the participants of category – III of 5.5 to 6.5 years age group.
It was a competition that not only laid emphasis on the costume but also gave the little hearts of kindergarten a platform to build their self-confidence and explore their inner strength. The tiny tots dressed up in their most vibrant colourful costumes and themes touched the hearts of one and all. The students carried props and spoke on their themes which gave them a platform to exhibit their oratory skills also. Ridhi dressed up as 3-in-one earth depicting past, present and future of the planet, Vanya dressed up as farmer told about healthy and junk food, Khushmeet in complete map of India speaking wonderfully on how is India Incredible and Srishti attired in Kashmiri girl, were highly appreciated.
It was indeed a delightful competition enjoyed both by the participants and audience. They gave a thundering applause to see these marvellous performances. The school Principal, Ms. Jyoti Sachdev Pujara congratulated the participants for their amazing get-ups and the wonderful show put up by them. The winners of the competition were given prizes by the Chief Guest and the school Principal.
The overall trophy of this competition was clinched by Green Land Sr. Sec. School Public School. The programme ended with the singing of National Anthem. Overall it was an exuberant show.
Republic Day
The 65th Republic Day was celebrated with great zeal and traditional fervour. The function was presided over by Sh. Rajesh Rudhra, the Chairman of Chain of Green Land Schools. The school Principal, Mrs. Jyoti Sachdev Pujara gave a floral welcome to the honourable Chief Guest Sh. Rajesh Rudhra. The ceremony began with unfurling of the National Flag followed by the National Anthem.
On this occasion, the students revealed their dedication towards their motherland through the patriotic songs and dance items. The dance items thrilled everyone as they showcased diversified thoughts to inculcate patriotism among all. Apart from this, the group songs sung by the students in the praise of motherland spread the message of universal brotherhood.
The Chief Guest, Sh. Rajesh Rudhra, appreciated the students for a wonderful show and told them about the relevance of Republic Day and further added that there is a need for brotherhood and co-operation among the citizen of India.
The school Principal, Mrs. Jyoti Sachdev Pujara emphasized the students to value the achievements achieved by great leaders. The function ended with an oath ceremony.
Lohri Celebrations
Lohri, the first festival of the New Year was celebrated with lots of exuberance and fanfare at Green Land Convent School, Civil City, Ludhiana. The mood on the campus was upbeat and students were totally absorbed in the festive spirit of Lohri. The school Principal Mrs. Jyoti Sachdev Pujara lit the sacred fire to initiate the celebrations. Rituals of offering the Prasad to the pious fire was performed by the Principal and staff members. In the same breath the echo of the drums resounded in the air and along came the students dressed in colourful Punjabi attire to perform the bhangra. The children had a gala time as they danced around the holy bonfire and offered prayers for the prosperity of nation. Peanuts and sweets were distributed among students. Celebrations reached zenith of excitement when Lohri songs were sung by the students and the teachers. Rising flames of bonfire, colourful attires, giddha, bhangra, peanuts and varieties of sweets marked the celebrations. The Principal of the school, Mrs. Jyoti Sachdev Pujara, highlighted the importance of festival of Lohri, which ushers in the cheerful spring season bidding adieu to the dull winter. She also acquainted the students with the history of Lohri celebration and folk tales of Dulla Bhatti and congratulated everyone on the first festival of the new year.
Gurpurab Celebrations
Gurpurab marking the birthday of Guru Gobind Singh ji was celebrated in Green Land Convent School, Civil City, Ludhiana. A special assembly was conducted in the school. The Ardas rented a religious fervour in the air and whole gathering was in a meditative mood. The presentation of melodious Shabad Kirtan enlightened the teachings of spiritual Guru. The students recited Poems in praise of lord with religious dedication and devotion. Revered Principal ,Mrs. Jyoti Sachdev Pujara, made the students aware of the significance of the day. She said that the life and teachings of Guru Gobind Singh Ji are of profound significance to mankind. She also said that all the students should inculcate teachings of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. He gave a message of love, harmony, brotherhood and his universal compassion which provides inspiration for all humanity. The ceremony came to an end with distribution of Prasad to one and all present.
Christmas Celebrations
Soaking the spirit of Christmas, Green Land Convent School, Civil City celebrated it with a festive spirit at the school premises. The celebration started with the singing of Christmas carol and X’mas decoration. The programme was followed by dance items by the tiny tots. The entire campus was festooned with colourful streamers and balloons and a brightly decorated Christmas trees. Overriding every other emotion a wave of cheer enveloped the school. The little ones of Kindergarten were looking very cute dressed as Christmas trees, Santa Claus, Joseph, Mother Mary, Angels, the Kings and the shepherds. Speaking on occasion, the school principal, Mrs. Jyoti Sachdev Pujara told the students that Christmas is a festival of joy and giving. It celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ who is the Son of God. He is the harbinger of peace and harmony in the world. She told them to take inspiration from the life of Jesus Christ and follow his teachings and the spirit of serving the humanity. There was the Christmas spirit and merriment throughout the programme.
Inter School Colouring and Talent Hunt Competition
Green Land Convent School, Civil City, organised an Inter School Colouring and Talent Hunt Competition for the Kindergarten students. The students from renowned playway schools of the city participated to showcase their talent. The parents of the participants were also invited in the function.
The programme commenced with the colouring competition followed by the fabulous display of tiny tots’ dance & story show highlighting the role of parents in a child’s life & the trust a child has on his mother & father individually. This was further followed by the Talent Hunt Competition. All the students put their best foot-forth at this spectacular opportunity. Tiny tots exhibited their talent by reciting different poems, telling stories, performing dances etc. They won the admiration of all the parents and eminent guests. The audience was thrilled to see the performance of the children and gave thundering applause. In his address to parents, the Chairman Sh. Rajesh Rudhra inspired one and all by appreciating them for their keen interest in giving the best opportunity to their ward in their formative years of life and commended their efforts in nurturing these tiny saplings. The school Principal, Mrs. Jyoti Pujara in her thanks giving speech felicitated the efforts of the students and thanked the honoured guests and parents telling them how much their presence has motivated the students to show case their best. The function ended with the Prize Distribution to the winners of the competition. A trophy of consolation prize was given to all the participants.
Fancy Dress
‘A Fancy Dress Competition’ was held at Green Land Convent School, Civil City, Ludhiana for the Kindergarten section. Children created an aura of happiness, enthusiasm and ecstasy. They expressed their creativity by innovatively dressing up like Laxmi Bai, Corruption, Garbage King, Grooms, Models, Freedom Fighters, Butterfly, Angels, Fairies, Cartoon Characters, Onion, Vendors, Newspaper, Animals etc.
They presented a wonderful show by adoring themselves in different characters. They made the characters lively by acting vigorously. It was a real platform for these young artists which paved the way for their aptitude. The school Principal, Mrs. Jyoti Pujara felicitated the efforts of the winners and further added that this type of platform helps students to build up their confidence.
The students dressed as Swami Vivekanand Mishu from P.Nsy, Kripa as Bhyankar pari, Nikhita as tree , Pranav as onion from Nsy. and Vaishnavi as onion, Khushmeet as Garbage King, Khushi as Super Market, Arushi as Mira Bhai, Arshit as Krish, Ashish as Bhagat Singh from K.G. stood first in the competition. Second prizes were won by Dhruvi, Sanjivani, Vanshikha Gandhi, Avika, Sarthak, Divyanshu, Parneet, Siddhi, Saira and Akshit. Third and consolation prize winners were Dhruv, Rhythm, Aastha, Ananya, Lakshita, Keshav, Diljaan, Lakshay, Vansh, Gurvir, Priyanshu, Jannat, Himanshu, Jai, Jatin, Arundhiti, Madhvi, Akshit and Abhishek.
CHILDREN'S DAY
Children’s Day was celebrated with full of fun & frolic. The programme began with a special assembly. The assembly was followed by various performances by the students and school teachers which left the students rolling with enthusiasm and heartfelt appreciation. Students were completely enthralled and bowled over to see their teachers performing on the stage. Teachers presented their performances with different themes setting good examples to inculcate values & discipline among children.
The school Principal Mrs. Jyoti Sachdev Pujara appreciated the performances of the teachers. She also told the students about the importance of the day. She guided the students to be the students as Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru had visualised because his birthday is the occasion to remind us to imbibe the values of discipline, sense of order, cleanliness, beauty and innocence at this impressionable period which is the foundation of knowledge skill and attitude. The colourful programme ended with the students still blusting with energy and asking for more. All in all it was a great success and was immensely enjoyed by everyone.
The Festival of Lights-Diwali
Diwali, the festival of lights that enlightens every heart was celebrated with full religious fervour. Decorated in vibrant hues the school had an ambience of joy and happiness. The building was illuminated with lights. The whole school buzzed with various activities. Charts and banners were put up across the school requesting children for Eco friendly Diwali.
Toddlers celebrated Diwali with devotion, enthusiasm and excitement. Diya and candle decoration and card making competitions were organised for the students of primary section. Different Inter Class and Inter House Competitions were also organized for the Middle and Senior Sections such as Inter House slogan writing competition based on the theme of Eco-friendly Diwali, Rangoli making Competition and Inter class room decoration competition. Students participated in the competitions with a great zeal. Their active participation made these competitions more memorable.
Mrs. Jyoti Sachdev Pujara, the school Principal enlightened the students with the various reasons of celebrating Diwali in our country. She also advised them to celebrate safe and pollution free Diwali.
Navratras & Dusshera Celebration
Navratras and Dusshera was celebrated with great pomp and show. To mark this festive occasion an Inter House Dandia Dance Competition was organised in school premises with great zeal and excitement. The campus was decorated with flowers and buntings.
The celebration began with the dance performance depicting nine incarnations of Goddess Durga followed by Bhajans and Dandia dances. Students were quite excited in celebrating this pious occasion in the school. Participants with their exuberant dance performances thrilled the audience and had a thundering applause.Children in exalted mood had great fun. The animated movie- Ramayana was also shown to Primary and K.G. Wing to inculcate the religious values among students.
Students’ efforts were well appreciated by the school Principal Mrs. Jyoti Sachdev Pujara. In her speech, she elaborated the significance of Navratara and Dusshera Celebrations in our country. She further made the students realize that the mythological story Ramayana teaches us to have a solid foundation in our life. She congratulated the students and the house incharges for such a spectacular show.

Teacher's Day
Teachers’ Day was celebrated in Green Land Convent School,civil City, Ludhiana with full zeal and enthusiasm. Rich tributes were paid to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan by the students and staff members of the school. The senior students of the school took the reigns of school in their hands. The students performed their duty with utmost devotion and dedication. Pseudo Director, Chaitanya Dawar and Pseudo Principal, Shaina took full charge of the school. Teacher’s day is the only day when the students every year get into the shoes of their own teachers and see how challenging their job is. All the students of the school wished their teachers gleefully with flowers and cards to express their love and affection for the teachers.
Students had organised a function for all the teachers within the premises. They performed various dance performances and songs to pay gratitude to them. They had also organised various games and ramp modelling for their teachers. All the staff members enjoyed a big treat organised for them.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal of the school, Mrs. Jyoti Sachdev Pujara, addressed that a teacher must dedicate herself selflessly to educate children who are the future of the nation. She also added that bookish knowledge is not enough if we want to inculcate values in the students, therefore, they should update them timely.
Janamashtmi Celebrations
Janamashtmi, the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna, the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu and the Saviour of Dharma was celebrated with great excitement and religious fervour. A warm welcome was accorded to the Chairman of Chain of Green Land Schools, Sh. Rajesh Rudhra accompanied with Mrs. Usha Rudhra and Miss. Shivangi Rudhra by the School Principal Mrs. Jyoti Sachdev Pujara.
The students of Kindergarten Wing came dressed up as Radha, Krishna and devotees. The school was decorated with flowers, bells, buntings, maakhan matkis and rangoli. The celebrations began with Lord Krishna Abhishek followed by bhajans and aarti that created the religious aura in the school. The students prtesented vibrant dance items on the life of Lord and left everyone spellbound with their captivating performances. Radha and Krishna on the traditional swing adorned with flowers attracted one and all.
While addressing the students, the Chairman of the school apprised students about the relevance of celebrating this special day. He further added that every individual must strive to embody the strengths and qualities of Lord Krishna. The School Principal, Mrs. Jyoti Sachdev Pujara, while addressing the students urged them to follow the principles laid by Lord Krishna in Bhagwad Gita in their daily life. There was an aura of harmony created in the school and everyone was inhaling the air of peace. At the end, ambrosia was distributed in the school.
Independence Day
The 67th Independence Day of our nation was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour. The whole school was decorated with national flags and tri-colour balloons. Children were carrying tri-colour in their hands and on their shoulders to show their love for the motherland. The Chairman of the School, Sh. Rajesh Rudhra was the Chief Guest of the ceremony, accompanied by Mrs. Usha Rudhra, Mrs. Vijayta Rudhra, Shivangi Rudhra and lovely Hridhay Partap & Kripa Rudhra. They were accorded a warm floral welcome by the Principal of School, Mrs. Jyoti Sachdev Pujara.
The Function began with unfurling the National Flag by the distinguished Guest of the day Sh. Rajesh Rudhra. Later students depicted the cultural heritage of India through different dance items and choreographies. On this special day, an Inter House Group Song Competition was organised. Participants of all the four houses i.e Jagriti, Jyoti, Kirti and Shakti House participated with the spirit of patriotism. They paid homage to the martyrs and expressed their love and concern for the nation by singing Patriotic Songs. The students invoked the blessings of the motherland through the national song. The school campus echoed with melodious patriotic songs.
While addressing the students, Sh. Rajesh Rudhra informed them the countries who do not want India to progress and prosper, they prey the youth by making them addicted to the intoxicants and drugs. He awakened the students to stay away from such menace and must be aware of keeping good health and stamina as the prosperity of our country lies on their shoulders. He also commended the efforts of the students and exhorted them to take pledge to safeguard the freedom of our country. The School Principal, Mrs. Jyoti Sachev Pujara, asked students to remain loyal and patriotic for their nation. To end up all evils in the society and each one of us has to be loyal in our dealings. The function ended up with the oath ceremony.
A Splash Pool Party
A Splash Pool party was organised for the students of Kindergarten wing. The pool was full with colourful balls, toys, swimming tubes, paper boats etc. The students enjoyed the pool, party in their splashing colourful swimming costumes. The kids along with their teachers danced on the music tunes and enjoyed the summer day. Various games like Waterhand ball, Rubber ducky race, Boat race, Watermelon push relay, clothing relay, related to pool party were organised in the pool for the students. Different juices and fruits were also relished by the kids.
The Principal of the School, Mrs. Jyoti Sachdev Pujara, appreciated the enthusiasm and excitement among the students. To make the day full of fun, learning action words and rhymes related to pool party were also taught to the tiny tots. An aura of excitement and fantasy was created amongst the students.
Academic Year (2012-13) - A Year of Glorious Achievements
Progressing towards excellence, the first batch of the students of X std. of Green Land Convent School, Civil City Ludhiana presented remarkable result. This result has not only brought name & fame to the students but also to the entire team behind this success i.e. Teachers, Parents, Principal & Management as well. Out of 27 students who appeared for the examination (Session 2012-13), 17 secured CGPA-10, followed by 8 students securing above CGPA-9.0 respectively. A motivational support & backbone of the school Principal, Mrs. Jyoti Sachdev Pujara congratulated the students & parents & also facilitated the efforts & guidance given by the teachers. She also opined that “A dream does not become reality through magic, it takes sweat, determination and hard work.”
Fresher's Party
Jovial smiles and high spirits marked the Fresher’s party organized for Kindergarten students. Mrs. Jyoti Sachdev Pujara, Principal of the school, graced the function. The function provided a wonderful platform to the kiddies to mix up with each other. Children attired in beautiful dresses did ramp modeling on the tunes of popular songs. Even the teachers of the kindergarten section accompanied the students on the stage to build up their confidence. Students gave mind bagging performances on the latest songs with wearing eye masks and party caps. They proved their talent through rhyming and story telling also. It was a real platform for these budding artists which paved the way for their aptitude. Principal of the school appreciated the endeavours put by the teachers who prepared the students to come for this show.
Baisakhi Celebration
The kindergarten wing and the staff members came dressed up in punjabi attire. The function began with a group folk song “Tappe” that spellbound the audience by highlighting the historical background of the festivals in Punjab.
The tiny tots were looking incredible in vibrant punjabi suits and lehangas. The primary wing presented folk dances on punjabi beat. The senior section presented an Inter House Group Dance Competition. The motive behind the celebration was to make children cognizant with the historical background, significance and relevance of Baisakhi. They were made aware of the vivid and vibrant colours of rural life of Punjab through articles like phulkari, charkha, chhaj, chatti, madhani, pakhi, chulha, etc. which were displayed on the stage.
Addressing on the occasion, The Principal of the school, Mrs. Jyoti Sachdev Pujara, appreciated the vigour and Fervour of the students and made them well versed with the historical importance of Baisakhi. She told the students that we should not forget our own traditions under the influence of the western culture. In the end she announced the winners of the Inter House Group Dance Competition.
Shakti house was declared as the winner. Second and third positions were bagged by Kirti house and Jyoti house respectively. Jagriti House got the consolation prize. The whole school sparkled with the aura of punjabi culture.
BASANT PANCHAMI CELEBRATED
Basant Panchmi, heralder of the spring season was celebrated at Green Land Convent School, Civil City, Ludhiana with a lot of exuberance and fanfare. The students were totally absorbed in the festive spirit of Basant. The students of Kindergarten section came attired in yellow costumes and flowers. They made beautiful yellow flowers which they presented to their teachers. The students had a gala time as they welcomed the cheerful spring season bidding adieu to the dull winter. The students relished the yellow puddings prepared by their mothers. The Principal of the school Mrs. Jyoti Sachdev Pujara acquainted the students with the relevance of the festival and told them that the festival marks the birthday of Goddess Saraswati, the Goddess of knowledge.
Birth Anniversary of Param Sant Kirpal Singh Ji Maharaj
The Birth Anniversary of Param Sant Kirpal Singh Ji Maharaj, the towering spiritual figure, was celebrated on 6 Feb. at Green Land Convent School, Civil City, Ludhiana with religious fervour and devotion. The students of the school recited hyms to mark the occasion. The floral tributes were paid to Guruji. The Principal of the school, Mrs. Jyoti Sachdev Pujara threw light on the teachings of the Guru who stood for peace, brotherhood, harmony and spiritual attainment. She told the students that Sant Kirpal Singh Ji was a living example of perfect human being who devoted his entire life to lone of God and service to humanity. The devotional and melodious songs charged the atmosphere with positive vibes.
LOHRI CELEBRATION
Lohri, the first festival of the New Year was celebrated with lots of exuberance and fanfare on 11th Jan., 2013 (Friday). The mood on the campus was upbeat and students were totally absorbed in the festive spirit of Lohri. The students of the school showcased their talent through the dance items and singing the songs immersed in rich cultural folklore of Punjab. The children had a gala time as they danced around the holy bonfire and offered their prayers for the prosperity of nation. Peanuts and sweets were distributed among students. Celebrations reached zenith of excitement when Lohri songs were sung by students and teachers. Rising flames of bonfire, colourful attires, giddha, bhangra, pleanuts and varieties of sweets marked the celebrations. The Principal of School, Mrs. Jyoti Sachdev Pujara highlighted the importance of festival of Lohri, which ushers in the cheerful spring season bidding adieu to the dull winter. She also acquainted the students with the history of Lohri celebrations and folk tales of Dulla Bhatti.
Annual Prize Distribution Function and Cultural Programme
The Annual Prize Distribution Function and Cultural Programme was organized in the premises of Green Land Convent School, Civil City, Chander Nagar, Ludhiana on Saturday. S. Maheshinder Singh Grewal, Advisor to Chief Minister, Punjab was the Chief Guest and S. Narinder Singh Malli, councillor was the guest of honour. The Chief Guest was accorded a warm welcome by the Chairman of Chain of Green Land Schools Sh. Rajesh Rudhra along with Smt. Usha Rudhra, Mr. Shabad Rudhra, Mrs. Vijayata Rudhra, Principal of the school Mrs. Jyoti Sachdev Pujara and by other eminent members of the school Management Committee. The Show began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest S. Maheshinder Singh Grewal accompanied by S. Narinder Singh Malli and the Chairman Sh. Rajesh Rudhra, the school Principal and other renowned guests. The programme started with an invocation to Lord Shiva and was followed by the annual report by the Principal Mrs. Jyoti Sachdev Pujara. The children presented laudable and astounding performances on the happiest time of their life i.e. childhood through a story, free style dance and love for their Grandparents, Parents and Teachers. A dance was also shown through robotic style to spread the message of peace. The highlight of the evening was the play ‘Atma Zinda Rakho!’ which gave the message that one should not kill the soul when alive. Rhythm, the student of IV standard spoke on the accomplishments of the school. The evening witnessed the spark and enthusiasm of the students who were dressed up in Jazzy attires tapping their feet on Christmas dance. Later, Prize Distribution Ceremony was held to felicitate the students. The Chief Guest of the ceremony S. Maheshinder Singh Grewal along with S. Narinder Singh Malli, the Chairman of the school Sh. Rajesh Rudhra and the Principal Mrs. Jyoti Sachdev Pujara gave away the trophies and congratulated the students for their achievements. The Chief Guest was presented a memento as a token of gratitude by the Chairman of the school. Speaking on the occasion S. Maheshinder Singh Grewal appreciated the talent and vigour of the students and the efforts of the staff for the marvellous show. He also stated that it is really praiseworthy that Green Land has achieved great heights in the field of education in a very short span of time. It was possible with the blessings of Guru Maharaj Ji, hard working staff and the quality Education they are providing. In his address to parents and students the Chairman of the school Sh. Rajesh Rudhra stressed upon the fact that one should not kill soul when alive. If they want their children to become great their soul should remain alive. One can never commit any crime and will always give respect to parents, family, society and the nation if the soul is alive. The show won the admiration of the parents and the eminent guests. On this occasion the Principals of other Green Land Schools Mrs. Baldeep Pandher, Mrs. Vinita Sanan, and Mrs. Jatinder Gupta were also present. The function culminated with the singing of National Anthem.
HEALTHY FOOD WEEK
Healthy Food Week was organized at Green Land Convent School, Civil City by the Kindergarten Section so as to inculcate healthy eating habits among students. The main attraction of the week was Fruits and Vegetables Day and Healthy Tiffin Competition. The students came attired as different fruits and vegetables. They were made aware of their importance which helps them to grow healthy and strong.
In Healthy Tiffin Competition, students brought food enriched with nutrients. The whole credit goes more to their mothers who had put their best efforts in preparing the healthy tiffins. The school Principal Mrs. Jyoti Pujara appreciated the efforts of students as well as their mothers who worked hard to be the best. She also congratulated.
TEACHERS’ DAY CELEBRATION
Teachers’ Day was celebrated by Chain of Green Land Schools with full zeal. Rich tributes were paid to Dr. Radhakrishnan by the Director cum Chairman of Green Land schools Sh. Rajesh Rudhra along with the members of the Managing Committee, teaching faculty and senior students of the school. The senior students of the school took the reigns of school in their hands. Starting from morning assembly to teaching, the students performed their duty with utmost devotion. The head boy & head girl took full charge of the Director and the Principal’s office. Today is the day when the students, every year get into the shoes of their teachers and see how challenging their job is. The students of the school wished their teachers gleefully. Most of them came up with cards & flowers to express their love & affection for the teachers. The staff of Chain of Green Land Schools assembled together at Green Land Convent School, Civil City, Ludhiana to celebrate Teachers’ Day. The Principals of Chain of Green Land Schools Mrs. Baldeep Pandher, Mrs. Vinita Sanan, Mrs. Jyoti Pujara, Mrs. Jatinder Gupta & Mrs. Rajni Narad and the teaching faculty welcomed Sh. Rajesh Rudhra, Chairman of Chain of Green Land Schools, Smt. Usha Rudhra, President Mr. Shabhad Rudhra & Mrs. Vijayata. A cultural show was put up by the teachers and students collectively to celebrate the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Sh. Rajesh Rudhra said that a teacher must dedicate herself selflessly to educate the children who are future of the Nation. They should be ‘IDEAL TEACHERS’. He said bookish knowledge is not enough if we want to inculcate values in the students. The teachers enjoyed the big treat organized for them. Also present on the occasion was Prof. V.K. Mehta, Ex-Principal of Arya College, Ludhiana.
RAIN DANCE PARTY
On the arrival of monsoon, the tiny tots enjoyed the rain when a Rain Dance Party was organized for Kindergarten Section in the school campus on 23rd July, 2012 (Monday). The kiddies danced, hopped and jumped on different tunes. They tapped their feet on famous rain song – Chak Dhoom Dhoom and recited rhymes of rainy day. All of them were excited with their colourful umbrellas and rain coats. They relished different fruits also. They were accompanied by their teachers. There was a sigh of relief on everybody’s face as they got rid of the scorching heat. The Principal of the school, Mrs. Jyoti Pujara also joined them and became a part of their enjoyment.
VANMAHOTSAV CELEBRATION
Marking the arrival of the tempestuous monsoon, which is also the harbinger of the planting season, Vanmahotsav-A grand celebrations of trees was organized for consecutively four days dated 20th, 21st, 23rd and 24th July, 2012 to create awareness among students about conservation of nature and spread the message of love and care for nature as well as to live in harmony with nature.
On the very first day, ‘Inter House Poster Making Competition’ was organized. The students enthusiastically participated in the competition and displayed their creative skills in painting environment related to posters in multiple colours.
On the second day ‘Inter House Flower Arrangement Competition’ was organized where students enjoyed arranging the variety of colourful flowers and leaves which they had brought from their houses. The charm of flowers was on test when the students competed to bring out the best of their aesthetic sense. The competition marked the alliance of elegance and excellence.

The third and fourth day concluded with the tree plantation ceremony. The students from P.Nsy to X planted different saplings keeping in mind the notion of ‘Go Green’ so as to keep the environment cleaner and safer. The students were also shown video clippings related to importance of trees in the morning assembly.
The school Principal, Mrs. Jyoti Pujara briefed about the significance of the day and the role of present day youth in rebuilding the mother earth.
TALENT HUNT COMPETITION
Jovial smiles and high spirits marked the Fresher’s Party cum Talent Hunt Show organised on 21st May, 2012 (Monday) for Kindergarten Section. Mrs. Usha Rudhra, the General Secretary of the school Trust graced the function as the Chief Guest. She was given a floral welcome by the Principal of the school Mrs. Jyoti Pujara. On this occasion Ms. Shivangi Rudhra was also present. The function provided a wonderful platform to the kiddies to mix up with each other. Children attired in beautiful dresses danced to the tune of popular songs and gave mind bogging performances. Little angels created an aura of happiness, enthusiasm and ecstasy. They proved their talent through singing, rhyming, dancing, mono acting, giving speeches etc. It was a real platform for these budding artists which paved the way for their aptitude. Special eatables were also provided to the students.
The Guest of the day Mrs. Usha Rudhra felicitated the efforts of the winners and further added that these young minds must be given exposure to all the activities at this stage of life. Mrs. Jyoti Pujra the Principal of school appreciated the endeavours put by the teachers who prepared the students to come up for this show.

Graduation Ceremony and Annual Prize Distribution of K.G.Wing
The Graduation Ceremony and Annual Prize Distribution of K.G.Wing was celebrated on 5th May, 2012 (Saturday). The budding scholars of pre-primary graduated to primary level and the Chairman of the Chain of Green Land Schools, Sh. Rajesh Rudhra and Mrs. Usha Rudhra the Gen. Sec. of the trust presided over the function as a Chief Guest. The ceremony began with a dance performance dedicated to Lord Krishna followed by welcome song. Students wearing graduation caps & gowns were full of excitement. Altogether 121 students received their graduation certificates amidst loud applause from the honourable Chairman of the school. Apart from it, a prize distribution ceremony was also held for the outstanding students of Academic Session 2010-2011. Oozing with confidence, the children also presented a series of colourful dance performances. While addressing the parents, Sh. Rajesh Rudhra, emphasized on the fact that these are formative years in a student’s life and there is a need to pay extra attention towards them for building up their personality. The school Principal also congratulated the parents on the initial success of their children.
Solo Dance Competition
A Solo Dance Competition was organized from I to V std. on 27th April, 2012. The main purpose of the function was to explore the hidden talent of the students and judge their imagination, expressions & innovation. The competition was organised in two groups. Group A consisted of students from class I & II and Group B consisted of classes III to V. All the participants danced to the tunes of folk and western songs and gave mesmerizing performances.

Pool Party
A Splash Pool Party was organized for the students of Kindergarten section. The pools were full of colourful balls, toys, paper boats etc. The students enjoyed the pool party in their colourful swimming costumes. Different juices and fruits were also relished by the kids. The kids alongwith their teachers danced on the music tunes and enjoyed the summer day. To make the day full of fun and learning different action words related to beach scene were also taught to the tiny tots.
Earth Day Competition
To celebrate Earth day in the school an Inter House Power Point Presentation Competition was held. The theme for the presentation was Global Warming. Students presented different issues related to Global Warming and how far global warming is a threat to our Mother Earth.

THE FESTIVAL OF BAISAKHI
The festival of Baisakhi- ushering a period of material prosperity and spiritual happiness was celebrated with utmost zeal and traditional fervor at Green Land Convent School, Civil City on 13th April, 2012.
The students and the staff members came dressed up in traditional attire. Apart from energetic cultural performances like Bhangra and Giddha, a Baisakhi fair was also organized by the students which displayed the vivid and vibrant colours of rural life in Punjab.
Variety of articles like Phulkari, Charkha, Chhaj, Chatti, Madani, Pakhi, Chulha etc. were displayed.
REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATIONS
63rd Republic Day was celebrated with great zeal and traditional fervor. The function was presided over by Sh. Rajesh Rudhra, the Chairman of Chain of Green Land Schools. The ceremony began with unfurling of the National Flag which was followed by the National Anthem. Cultural programme based on patriotism was presented by the students. An Inter House English Declamation Contest was also held through which students showcased their dedication towards their motherland by presenting their views on different topics.
FIRST FESTIVAL OF THE NEW YEAR – LOHRI
The children had a good time celebrating the first festival of the New Year in a traditional manner. Lohri was celebrated in the school campus on 11th Jan., 2012 with great zeal and enthusiasm. The students danced around the bonfire and presented their offerings of chirwa, til, gur, rewari, gachak etc. to the bonfire. They were acquainted with the history of Lohri Celebrations and folk tales of Dulla Bhatti. To graced this occasion, Principal Mrs. Jyoti Pujara joined this celebrations and addressed the students by telling them the importance of Lohri and also added that Lohri is the first festival of New Year which is a symbol of joy and happiness. The students relished sweets like rewari, gachak etc. and welcomed the first festival with the spirit of oneness and brotherhood.
On the Eve of Christmas
On the Eve of Christmas, our tiny tots come dressed up as Santas, angels etc. & sleigh on a ‘Victoria’ distributing the gifts & sweets to others. The students also celebrated this day by dancing and singing the Christmas Carols and mesmerized one and all by tapping their feet in rhythmic way. The whole campus was decorated with Christmas trees, bells, stars, balloons, joysticks etc. which was the main attraction of the day. Santa Claus with his pleasing personality stunned all the students and made them happy by giving them the sweets.
Group Dance Competition
The Chain of Green Land Schools organised an Inter Branch Group Dance Competition in the premises of Green Land Convent School, Civil City, Ludhiana. Sh. Rajesh Rudhra, Chairman of Chain of Green Land Schools graced the occasion as Chief Guest. A warm welcome was accorded to Sh. Rajesh Rudhra, Mrs. Usha Rudhra and Mrs. Vijayata Rudhra by the Principal of the school, Mrs. Jyoti Pujara. The panel of judges comprised of Ms. Vijayata Rudhra and Ms. Shivangi Rudhra.
The programme commenced by seeking the blessings of Goddess Saraswati through Saraswati Vandana. The students from Green Land School Jalandhar Bye Pass, Chandigarh Road, New Subhash Nagar, Dugri and from the host school participated with full enthusiasm and vigour. The competition was divided into two categories: Category A (Nursery-I) and Category B (II-V). The performances were simply scintillating and left the audience spell bound.
The first position was bagged by Green Land Convent School, Civil City. Second and third prizes were awarded to Green Land Convent School, Chandigarh Road and Green Land Convent School, Dugri respectively.
Consolation Prizes were also given to Green Land Sen. Sec. Public School, Jalandhar Bye Pass and Green Land Convent School, New Subhash Nagar.
The Chairman of Chain of Green Land Schools, Sh. Rajesh Rudhra along with President Mr. Shabad Rudhra, Mrs. Usha Rudhra, Mrs. Vijayata Rudhra, the school Principal Mrs. Jyoti Pujara felicitated the winning teams. The honourable Chairman Sh. Rajesh Rudhra congratulated the students. He said that such competitions are organised to enhance the talent and self-confidence of the students. He further added students must participate whole heartedly in such competitions. Rajesh Rudhra, Chairman of Chain of Green Land Schools graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Sh. Rajesh Rudhra, and President Mr. Shabad Rudhra, were given a floral welcome by the Principal of the school, Mrs. Jyoti Pujara.

Rajesh Rudhra congratulated the students and encouraged them to practice hard to excel in sports at the higher level. He also announced that he would make earnest efforts to promote the games further. He informed that during the coming months more inter-school tournaments will be organised. These would include swimming, basketball, football, kho-kho, cricket, shooting and hockey.
CHILDREN’S DAY CELEBRATIONS
14th Nov., 2011 the Children’s Day was celebrated in the school premises with great pomp and show. The program we began with a classical dance by the students. To enhance the enjoyment, Punjabi Folk Dance, Giddha was presented by the girls of middle section. Alongwith students, teachers also gave mesmerizing performances like Group Dance, Gazals, One Act play etc. which entertained the students a lot. The presence of the Chairman of the Chain of Green Land schools, Sh. Rajesh Rudhra graced the occasion much. In his message to students he said that students are the future of our nation, the progress of our nation depends on them. He motivated the students to achieve their goal through hard work. The school Principal, Mrs. Jyoti Pujara told the importance of this day to the students and informed them that by following the principles of Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, they should march forward in their life. In this way the day was celebrated with joy and enthusiasm.
ANNUAL SPORTS’ MEET – 2011
Annual Sports Meet was organized from 3rd Nov., 2011 to 12th Nov., 2011 in the school playground. From the first day till the last day students were in high spirits and excitement could be seen on their faces.
The result of all the events like Races, Kho-Kho, Long jump, Discuss throw, Throw ball, Karate, Badminton, Table-Tennis etc. was announced on the closing day i.e. 12th Nov., 2011. The day began with morning assembly followed by the March Past. The worthy Principal of the school, Mrs. Jyoti Pujara gave a floral welcome to the exuberant Chairman of Chains of Green Land Schools, Sh. Rajesh Rudhra. It was the day full of fun and frolic where the students brimming with enthusiasm assembled in their house arenas. The March Past by all the houses exhibited the discipline and student’s hard core practice. The students cheered their house participants and spurred them to go beyond their best. Chairman Sh. Rajesh Rudhra in his speech informed the students the importance of games and sports in their life. After the March Past, races were organized for the teachers and the maids like Brick Race, Three-Legged Race, 100 mts. Race. The winning teachers and maids were applauded. In the end the honourable Principal of the school announced the names of the winners. Out of all the houses ‘Shakti House’ was adjudged the over-all winner.
JANAMASHTAMI
On 19th & 20th August, 2011 Shri Krishna Jayanti was celebrated with pomp, splendour and religious fervour. Sh. Rajesh Rudhra, the Chairman of the school was the Guest of Honour. The celebration began with Aarti. Plenty of milk products especially butter, Krishna’s favourite childhood food and sweets were given in offering. A wide variety of fruits were also offered.
Students sang glorious verses in the praise of Lord Krishna. Songs & hymns were also chanted in merriment. All the students and teachers came traditionally dressed up and played Radha, Krishna and devotees. Kindergarten Section organized the Fancy Dress Competition. All the tiny tots looked fantastic in their colourful costumes. Inter House Drama & Group Dance Competition was also held to mark the Birth Anniversary of Lord Krishna.
On this festive occasion Sh. Rajesh Rudhra while addressing the students told that the life and message of Shri Krishna was the most stirring saga of one of the greatest saviour and profounder of Dharma Who was an unchallenged hero of His times both in the terms of His bodily prowess and His intellectual brilliance. He also appreciated the performance of the students and declared Kirti and Jyoti House as winners. Mrs. Jyoti Pujara, the Principal of the school said that Krishna Janamashtami not only signifies the birth of Great and Divine preacher of mankind in some distant past but the lighting of the spark of the Divine Power in every one of us. She also congratulated the prize winners.
Independence Day
The 65th Independence Day was celebrated in the school campus with great pomp and show. The National Flag was hoisted by the Chairman Sh. Rajesh Rudhra.
The celebration started with singing of Patriotic group songs dedicated to the Martyrs of freedom struggle. The students from K.G. Wing and Primary section presented beautiful dance items praising their Mother India. Their dance thrilled everyone as they showcased diversified thoughts to inculcate patriotism among all. Various other heart throbbing patriotic items were also presented.
The Chief Guest of the day Sh. Rajesh Rudhra addressed the students and gave the memorable message that children are the future of the nation and the country is looking on them. So they should widen their horizon to make their country a great nation. He also stressed that we all should put our sincere efforts to make our country exceptionally great and always value the achievements done by the great leaders.
The Principal Mrs. Jyoti Pujara told about the importance of the day and further added that all Indians should take a pledge to eradicate corruption from their country. The function ended with an oath ceremony.

Green Land Convent School, Civil City brought laurels to the school and the city by winning five gold and one silver medals in Independence Cup Karate-Do Championship conducted by Karate-Do-Indo-Ryu Association International at Shimla from 13th Aug. to 15th Aug. In this championship more than 600 players from different schools and cities participated.
In Sub-junior category (under 20-25 kg ) Lovisha and Archit bagged the first position, Aman (under 25-28 kg) won gold medal, (under 38-42 kg and 50-54 kg) Satyam and Himanshu clinched gold medals. In Junior category (under 48-52 kg) Shubham won silver medal.
The Chairman of the school Sh. Rajesh Rudhra & the Principal Mrs. Jyoti Pujara congratulated the students and Karate coach Mohd. Aftab for this achievement.

‘Van Mahotsava Week’ was organized in the school from 1st August to 6th August, 2011 to inculcate love for nature in the minds of the students. The week long fest saw kids participating in various activities such as Plantation Drive, Quotation Writing Competition, Story Show, Paper Reading Contest, Extempore and Mock Radio Show etc. to gain hand on knowledge on various environmental issues.
The Principal of the school Mrs. Jyoti Pujara said about the campaign that such activities in the school educate children about environmental threats so that they can spread awareness among other members of the society.
Children were also encouraged to celebrate every occasion in their life with the plantation of a sapling. Hundreds of saplings were also planted in the school premises by the students themselves. On the whole they were quite enthusiastic through out the week.
STATUE COMPETITION
A statue -> Speechless, still a symbol of inspiration.
An inter-house ‘Statue Competition’ was organised on Wednesday on 20th July 2011. The function was presided over by the school Principal Ms. Jyoti Pujara.
The contest had two categories based on group and solo which. The students of secondary wings participated in the competition. They showcased their talent through innovative ideas and presented themselves as the statues of renowned personalities like Micheal Jackson, Bhagat Singh, Cinderalla, Heer-Ranjha, Aishwarya Rai, Akbar, Lakshmi Bai, Queen Victoria etc. The judges had a tough time in selecting the winners.
The ‘Shakti House’ bagged the first prize, whereas in close contest ‘Jyoti House’ stood second and ‘Jagriti House’ was declared third.
The school Principal Ms. Jyoti Pujara addressed the students and told them the qualities a statue must possess. She also appreciated the efforts made by students and teachers.
T.V. ADD SHOW
An inter-house T.V. advertisement show was organized by the primary wing on Friday 15 July 2011. The budding actors and models of our school acted so well that it seemed like live television ads for the audience. The students and the teachers added their innovative ideas in these advertisements to make them more attractive. The products on which the advertisements were performed were Clinic plus shampoo, Nirma washing powder, Bournvita, Centre-fresh chewing gum, Dettol hand wash, Pepsodent toothpaste, Knoor soup etc. The advertisements kept the audience spellbound.
The Kirti House stood first whereas Jyoti House and Shakti House bagged the second and the third positions respectively.
The school Principal, Mrs. Jyoti Pujara congratulated the winners and suggested them to mould the advertisements according to their own creative ideas.
Pool Party at Green Land Convent School, Civil City
Our school organized a pool party for students of Kindergarten section to beat the scorching heat of summer. Students wore colourful swim suits . The water tubs were filled with floating toys and floating tubes. Students relished juices and different fruits such as melon, watermelon, mango etc. They danced, hopped and jumped into the pool in the midst of music tunes. They enjoyed a lot as they got relief from the unbeatable heat.

Inter House Mock tail and Sandwich Competition
An Inter House Mock tail and Sandwich preparing competition was held on 23 rd April, 2011. Our budding chefs put their extreme efforts to present delicious and nutritious Sandwiches and Mock tails. ‘Chatpat Bhel Sandwich’, ‘Creamy Cheese Sandwich’, ‘Vegetable Saucy Sandwich’, ‘Queen Sweet Sandwich’ were the mouth-watering sandwiches along with fabulous mock tail like ‘Sweet Sunrise’, ‘Green Craco’ etc..
The judgement was made by the Principal of our school Mrs. Jyoti Pujara. The result is as follows :

And above all the best preparation prize was bagged by Tanya from Kirti House and Kawalpreet Kaur from Jyoti House
Havan Ceremony
In the commencement of new session, to seek the blessings of Almighty, Havan Ceremony was held in the school on 13 th April,2011. Havan is usually performed for the benefit of society and the same was performed for the future growth and prosperity of our school. The Cermony began with the arrival of Chairman Sh. Rajesh Rudhra along with his wife Mrs. Usha Rudhra. They were given warm welcome by our Principal Mrs. Jyoti Pujara and all the staff members. As havan is worship through the use of a sacred fire, the fire was lit by our Chairman. The vedic mantras were chanted and various items such as ghee, rice, herbs, foodstuffs were offered to the sacred fire. Hymns were also recited in the end.
Baisakhi Celebrations
The new session of the school began with first special assembly based on Baisakhi, which was celebrated on 12 th April, 2011. This festival marks the time for the harvest of Rabi crops and is celebrated with utmost joy and the same was celebrated in our school with gaiety and traditional fervour. The function commenced with a patriotic group song by budding singers of middle section which enthralled everybody. Ms. Amandeep Kaur, our Punjabi teacher delivered a speech which emphasized the religious aspect of Baisakhi.The exuberant dance, giddha, a popular folk dance of women in Punjab was presented by our budding dancers, which cast a magical spell. The children were also briefed about the “Khalsa Panth".
Healthy Tiffin Competition
It is rightly said, “Health Is Wealth”. Healthy Tiffin Competition was organized to mark the “World Health Day” by the students of Kindergarten Section and I . In this competition, the mothers sitting at home were more in competition as they had to prepare the best nutritious food for their children. Children brought nutritious food like salads, sprouts, green vegetables, fruits juices etc. Result of the competition is as follows:
